They're no jam band, but with the recordings I've heard of the 2005 shows, there has been quite a bit of variation from show to show, even when the setlist doesn't vary a whole lot they've played different versions of Clumsy, 4am, and other songs, different segues between songs, multiple different bits of cover songs inserted into Naveed and Clumsy, bits of other OLP songs added into Naveed, Will the Future Blame Us, Superman's Dead, Clumsy, and Boy, varying alternate lyrics added into Will the Future Blame Us and Wipe that Smile Off Your Face, varying guitar solos added into Will the Future Blame Us, Naveed, and surely others I'm not thinking of.J-Neli wrote:and let's face it, every OLP concert sounds the same anyways, so I'm pretty sure if you tape one, you've taped them all.
Well I think the complaints arise from times such as this:Hope wrote:jeez. in how many ways can you expect them to perform the same songs? as if any other bands are *completely different* every time you see them in concert. in any case, i'm actually quite happy with the variations that OLP puts into their concerts, despite the fact that i haven't downloaded and listened to every single OLP bootleg out there.
haha. i have, and i do. i should clarify that what i meant in my first post was that i think OLP is good at SONG VARIATIONS rather than SETLIST variations. i've been to ONE olp show and they played 6 songs, in which 2 of them had some kind of variety to it. im not completely stupid - i know olp sucks at varying up their setlists.J-Neli wrote: Go to a show by The Trews, or Sloan, or BSS or Sam Roberts, or Matthew Good and you're going to realize just how fucking bad OLP is.
