I don't think Steve would have done well as a backup to Mike .. he's to energetic and too talented .. he needs his own part of the stage .. I do wish Jamie had stayed thoughStaley wrote:They should have kept Mike and added Steve... that would have been cool.

Mike is gone, and he's not coming back. It might be hard to break out of the fantasy world where Mike still rocks out with OLP, but it needs to be done. You can worship what he does when he does something else, but we don't need to hear how much Mike is missed. Yeah he was great, but notice the word WAS, he's gone now. So don't clutter up a post about Steve (you know, the guy who took Mike's spot, for those of you avoiding reality) about how Mike is better. The end.

I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

What's wrong with being a Mike fan? Just because he's not in OLP right now means nothing... His work with OLP was astounding. He influenced my guitar playing, along with many others', greatly. Yes, Steve rocks my world too, but I don't see the problem with loving Mike. Everything in Naveed, Clumsy, Happiness... and Spiritual Machines, as well as some of Gravity, is done by Mike. He's awesome, and the fact that he's no longer playing with OLP doesn't change that fact.
And I have to mention that my love for Steve went up greatly a while ago, when I downloaded the live Naveed/Life. His guitar intro is insanely amazing.
The two guitar style between Mike and Steve aren't comparable. Yet. Steve hasn't written anything for us to hear. We won't be able to see his true colours until the next OLP release. (dear lord, I want another CD already!

Yeah but this is a Steve thread .. I'd rather hear about Steve then how much Mike is missed, cuz I don't miss Mike

Exactly Jo. You guys have already made a website to praise Mike Turner now that he's left the band, so why do you come into a thread that's supposed to be about Steve and talk about Mike? You have multiple threads praising Mike, so keep the Mike talk to those threads and keep it out of the Steve one.

What, like Steve-Mike comparo's aren't bound to come up in any discussion where one or both are concerned?
I've seen Steve live now and to be honest i believe they are better live band because of him.
But MIKE TURNER will always be my musical god. The man had just too much cool... for school. I think when commenting on Steve, at least for me, i automatically compare him to Mike. It's a reflex and i don't think it's wierd to compare the heir apparent to the one he is succeeding. Do you?
It's like Third Eye Blind and Kevin Cadogan. Both bands are good. If Mike would only start a band....

But the point is people are saying Mike is God in yet another post. Yeah, he was good, and his music still rocks on his old cds, but if you want to keep praising Mike, make a different thread, ok?

You can't expect people to not talk about Mike's talents when the first post is comparing Mike's gutiar playing to Steve's...OLPFan420 wrote:Exactly Jo. Then why don't you make another thread to praise Mike and make a few more websites? If I wasn't so damn lazy I would do something for Steve.
