Eminem
Eminem
I never cared for this guy. Waaaay too much airtime on radio stations and all he seemed to do was whine and complain about not being able to take care of his daughter and stuff related to his earlier "troubled" childhood. But I heard his new song "Sing For The Moment" on www.rollingstone.com and it actually is a good song.. I love the lyrics. Then I began to think how stupid I was for not liking the guy and GOOD rap. Not all rap is ritards attempting poetry.. I mean, he actually sings about good stuff not how many hoes or bling bling he's got now like Nelly or Ja Rule. Now that I think about it, Taking Back Sunday does sort of blow
I mean, guitar, bass, drums are talent and stuff but the more I think about about it, the more their lyrics are so stupid compared to other good stuff out there. Like they're all about his ex girlfriends. Yeah, everyone needs a few good songs about that here and there but ALL of them practically are about her. And all of these emo songs are about heart break and love, practically. Yeah, its good when you're in the mood. But I'm not. Saves The Day is still fucking awesome though, but I don't think I like TBS that much anymore. That is the reason why I didn't like OLP because I found that they were really bad. I get obsessed with bands for maybe 2 weeks and then I go onto better things. I am not saying Eminem is a better thing. Bright Eyes is awesome but Desperacidos is just
 Yeah!!!! Go me!!!!!

Yeah, I definitely agree with you. I think that Eminem speaks his mind in his music and isn't afraid to be radical or different, and I admire him for that as an artist. Even though some of his opinions stated are shocking and sometimes rude, he raps about real stuff that I think some ppl can relate to. He is also very ambitious, hard working and makes more money than most people will make in a lifetime...so I don't see why people are hating him.

Guy: We're in the hallway, always at half past nine.
Girl: Would he ever get to know me? Would he take the time?

OK, I do see what you are saying, and I am not saying I agree with him, but at least he is rapping about who he is and what he stands for....and I would rather he do that than be like every other rapper out there who talks about bling bling, hoes and partying...you know? At least he is being real.bovine wrote:hmm...could it be that he himself hates people simply based on race, sexual orientation, etc, etc, etc...?xomarissaxo wrote:so I don't see why people are hating him.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Most of the lyrics I've heard from him are ok...I mean thry're not like really openly hateful or anything. But some of the stuff I've heard about him saying...let's just say it turned me off. I'm not a fan of much rap anyway (I do like the stuff that Del the Funky Homosapian did with the Gorillaz, but that's about it unless you count a little bit of "rap-metal").
Just as an example of what an artists comments outside of their music (or other medium) can do to my opinion of them, when I first heard Creed a few years back, I thought they were pretty good. Not something I'd rush out to buy right away, but not bad. Then, one of their members (I forget which one, maybe the bassist...I'm not sure) said that they wrote far better songs than Pearl Jam. That turned me way off of Creed. And it's not just that PJ is one of my favorite bands...it could have been said about a band I didn't like and I would have felt the same way. I just thought that was so arrogant! On top of this, Creed had just come out with their first album and PJ had been writing for about 10 years!
Anyway, I'm kind of rambling, but my point is that if this somewhat minor comment turned me off of a band that I at least somewhat liked, you could imagine how really hateful, bigoted comments would make me feel about an "artist" in a genre of music that I'm not too fond of to begin with.
Don't get me wrong, I feel that everyone should have a right to express their opinion even if it is something I totally disagree with...but I also have the right to not buy (or even like) their stuff for whatever reason I choose.

yea, its too fucking bad that he's been doing it for so long that its gotten very old. you'd think he would have given up that "its me against the world" persona by now.xomarissaxo wrote:Yeah, I definitely agree with you. Suck on this a bit: I can't remember where I got this info from but...
A recent survey of over 2000 cd buyers at a downtown NYC store was done to find out who's next release is anticipated more:
Britney vs. Eminem
Over 60% said Britney......because she's changed in an edgy sort of way, but people feel Eminem is becoming a wuss.
WTF?

but the same old shit is what keeps people saying "WTF" for THAT meaning! haha
not.....OMG, Em's actually praising people besides Halie and Dre.
Oh yeah.....he'll have 50 Cent to praise now too.
Perhaps he and 50C could do a double diss vs. Benzino and Ja Rule
