Global Warming?

I have read a bunch of you criticize the US for pulling out of the Kyoto Treaty and have been meaning to post this.

oh sweet jesus you arn't actually going to try and debate global warming existing are you? Wure a few years ago maybe, but not now. Hell ask any Canadian how our winters are now compared to in the past. There's always going to be wacko's out there, you can find the flat world societies site too and find some articles debating that the world is flat.

you truly are the anti-thesis of me

I guess you would know better than the over 17,000 scientists that have said there is no proof that hydrocarbons do damage right? I think I'll trust the Dr's to your high school education.

"We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan, in December 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth."

Heres some more current links since you think my first one was so ancient.

If you would like more I have plenty. If global warming was indeed caused by emissions than by all means Kyoto is a good thing. I am a very enviromentally friendly person. I minored in Marine Biology because I am an animal (especially oceanic) lover. If we were hurting the environment beyond repair I would be the first one out protesting, but the facts are that global warming is not caused by emissions. These doomsday believers are cooky to say the least. NO SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE!!!!

Global warming may not be caused by emissions, but that doesn't mean we can just pollute as much as we like.

I don't believe in global warming.

Personally, I think global warming is a reality. Sure, it could be a theory but so is the whole idea of neutrons and protons...take it or leave it.

We could argue on and on about whether or not emissions cause global warming but what are these scientists thinking when they say that it's alright if we keep doing it. The emissions sent off into the air are a form of pollution and I don't think it's right to keep releasing it into the atmosphere without giving a second thought. Where do they think acid rain comes from?
And if I don't make it known that
I've loved you all along
Just like sunny days that
We ignore because
We're all dumb and jaded
And I hope to God I figure out
What's wrong

Venom, are you saying that global doesn't exist at all, or are you just stating that emissons of greenhouse gases don't cause it?

The emissions of greenhouse gases don't cause it. Throughout its history the Earth has warmed and cooled. Its a natural phenomenon, not caused by humans.

Global warming as a whole isn't a new thing. Global warming at the intensities it's reaching is a new thing, caused by humans.

Besides, lowering the excessive amounts of energy used in the world isn't a bad thing...

I agree that the Earth itself has caused sways in temperature over the millions and millions of years, but I also believe that right now we're causing this temperature increase since at no other time has there been such a dramatic increase in temperature, and it seems as though it is because of us.

There are other sites just like this, so Venom if you aren't impressed I'd gladly bring up more.

How do you know there has never been "such a dramatic increase" before? Humans weren't around to measure this before. Just because its more dramatic now doesn't mean it hasn't done it before.

As to your link....yes I would love to see more. That is the experiments of 1 scientist. I showed you 17,000 that disagree. Plus one of your scientists arguements was about the increase of CO2 which many scientists argue is beneficial to the earth.

i do think we are polluting the air excessively.....
but really, i highly doubt that we are causing the earths temperature to rise a degree every year or whatever the stats say.
i mean, jeeez, in 200 years people in Greece will be burnt to a crisp!

LOL actually its .05 degrees every 10 years! Its all a crock of shit! Its normal earth changes and nothing more. I suppose the Ice Age was due to farting dinosaurs......well I guess that would have the reverse affect if you go buy the "greenhouse gas" hypothesis but you get my point.

A friend of mine did a paper on this topic recently.

That sums up my opinion as well.

hate to say it but greenhouse gases do cause global warming.

following the laws of thermodynamics,

mass in = mass out

energy in = out

therefore if you put mass and energy in (ie. greenhouse gases), they have to go somewhere. they don't just disappear into nothing.

exactly, the gases themselves act as a blanket over the earth, the same way that at one point gases turned our planet into a livable one.

greenhouse gasses keep this planet from becoming a cold, dry waste land, but being too well insulated will mean that it will get too hot. weather patterns may change. ice caps may melt. whatever. fuck it. we'll be dead soon anyway.
and now its international security. the call of the righteous men.

I remember learning that we can't be sure about it due to the fact we have to look at the earths entire life, and we've only researched it for so long, it might just be a pattern.
