I am a dirty liberal.
Yes, disappointing but true.
I’m one of those people that believe that everyone should be entitled to health care and that everyone should pay into a universal healthcare system each month based on their tax bracket.
I believe that there should be a tax scale so that people who make 50,000 dollars a year don’t pay the same rate of tax as people who make 500,000 dollars a year. 250,000 dollars off of a 500,000 dollars year is still quite manageable while 25,000 dollars off of 50,000 dollars isn’t.
I am against the death penalty as I believe that it only produces more murderers.
I am pro-choice and believe that women have the right to govern their own physical domains.
I believe that religion has no business in public schools, in government, or in the law.
I believe that a single suicide bomber is no different that 10 men in 5,000 dollar suits who sit in a board room and decide to fire a missile at a building while eating their lunch.
I believe that opportunism means that everyone benefits, not simply a few.
I believe that before a cent is spent on weaponry we should tackle more pressing threats, such as AIDS. I believe that drugs produced to help those suffering from terminal illnesses should be free, paid for by a universal health care system or provided by financially prosperous nations to those less fortunate nations.
I believe that all people should be able to read and write their own name.
I believe that even though I am a Canadian, I am first a citizen of this planet and so view all people as my countrymen.
I believe that weapons of mass destruction produced or stockpiled by any nation is not only wrong, but sets a very dangerous precedent.
I believe that all people should be afforded basic human rights, the freedom to speak their minds, and the right to not live in fear of both traditional tyranny and the sort that is much more difficult to see.
I believe that our abuse of the environment is shameful and our inability to utilize cleaner fuel options speaks to the greed of a handful.
I believe that wild animals belong in the wild. Not in zoos, not in labs, not in the circus, and not at The Mirage.
I believe that the language of art is the most important and truthful language that our species employs.
I believe that censorship occurs when the truth becomes dangerous.
I believe that if we produce enough food to feed every person on this earth that it is criminal to allow anyone to starve to death.
I believe in people, I believe that they can make a difference, and I believe that their common voice can serve to vanquish those petty few that would use others for their own ends.
I believe in myself and so should you.

I believe that religion has no business in public schools, in government, or in the law.
If you are speaking about teaching religion or making laws pertaining to a certain religion than I agree, however there is nothing wrong with displaying ones religion when it isn't being forced on others. A statue with the 10 commandments on it is NOT forcing religion on anyone!! I am an athiest and I feel this way. Its another RIGHTS and EQUALITY issue!

Except that suicide bombers are targeting innocents. When government fires missiles it is targeting another military (or terrorist) group or installation.

And where are you gonna get all the money to phase out what we have and to implement this new fuel? Take it from all your healthcare policies. Mr. Good wants to take MORE money from people not less. That 25,000 a year just went down to 15,000.

Yeah, as pessimistic as it may seem, Venom is right. We'll never live in perfect peace unless we're all brainwashed, Brave New World style. Face it, as long as there are physical and geographical differences between people, there will be some sort of hatred in the world. As long as everyone has the capability of using their minds, there will be the people that use their minds in inappropriate ways, and rationalize that racism is the way to go, and that leads to no peace. There will never be peace.

I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
I agree, complete peace isn't possible. But you can try and make things as peaceful as possible. Look at what happened in Georgia. That could have been a disaster. If more understandings could occur in this world it would be a more peaceful place. Maybe not complete peace, but it could be better.

wow it's to bad Matt had that threat on his wifes life Venom, up untill recently he took responses from people like you and responded, it woudl have been interesting, i believe he used to actively debate in his forum as well. What is the point of having different salaries if in the end you expect both people to be left with the same amount of money? Where is the incentive to exceed? Who needs education at all if no matter what you can expect to receive the same amount of pay? Honestly, what is the point? It's not enough that the rich are paying 90% of all tax revenue? Everybody's vote counts the same, only the rich have to pay for the result.

Well lets see. We've thwarted dozens of attacks already, caught high level operatives, haven't had another large attack on any of our interests since 9/11, etc. Its not going to badly. Its also only 2 years old and its still the begining. I have a feeling Bin Laden will be ours soon. There are whispers comming out of Iran that people are willing to give him up for the right price and protection. Its all a matter of time.
uh huh, so the destruction of thosands of lives is going well, as well as a war on arab countries. But how are you planning on actually stopping terrorism? With that policy there's always going to be pissed off people out there looking to hurt a country they feel caused the deaths of their loved ones. You don't seem to understand terrorism is infinite under our current conditions. there will always be more waiting in line. Hate is the breeding ground of terrorism, and you guys are just sowing even more seed that are going to grow and cause even more problems in the future. You can never stop terrorism with force, only by giving everyone of them a reason to actually like us north american's, maybe if they dind't feel they were getting the shit end of the stick they wouldn't be so irate and eager to die. People with a future and a life without hate towards us don't go out killing themsleves

Well said.the idea of communism and facism never died, communism and facism both live on in a more watered down state all throughout the world. In fact as far i have seen true communism has never been attempted. Russian communism yes, true communism is immposible in our current world, but socialism is alive and well
