I am pretty sure they already do that here in Michigan.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

great scott! don't you have murderers and rapists and theives in michigan? wouldn't it be nice if the cops were out hunting and preventing these crimes rather then bother motorists because they suspect them of not wearing a seatbelt?

Yeah, isn't that amazing? Michigan is pretty damn uptight about anything. We have some real asshole cops here. They're more concerned about pulling people over for going 5 over the speed limit then they are with trying to fix anything that happens in Detroit. We get pulled over for driving with the flow of traffic, but during a Koufax concert some one gets shot in the leg, and nothing happens.

Seatbelts are something cops take advantage of now. My ex-girlfriend and I were driving to a music store so we can play some Les Pauls, and she gets pulled over for going 15 over, which is understandable. Well, the cop asks to see her registration, so she takes her belt off, reaches over to grab it, and gives it to the cop. The cop comes back and gives her a ticket for going 15 over and adds the no seatbelt ticket onto it, even though she CLEARLY took it off in front of him. So now we have to go to court and fight that ticket, even though we don't speak to each other anymore, because it's like $100 for the stupid belt. You get fined that much for being a drunken minor. What the fuck is wrong with Michigan?

I hate cops, with their sunglasses and their gun, and their knightclub and their badge. seriously everytime i get pulled over i give them hell.

Pig: You know the speed limit here?
Me: 65...
Pig: yeah, that stars over there, and you're doing 75 in a 55.
Me: that's funny, cause i was pacing you on the highway comming from robstown and you were going 80+ in a 70.
Pig: so? how do you know that i'm not in a hurry to back up a parner of mine? You kids, you think tha just because a cop is speeding that you can to?
Me: well, it's obvious your not, considering that you have time to pull me over. and just because your a cop you think you can speed? who gives you that right? write up my ticket, this conversation is being recorded right?
Pig: it may or may not be?
Me: well, whitch is it? I can call and ask internal affairs if you would like. *dials 411 on cell*
Pig: sir, there's no need for attitude.
Me: yeah, there is considering that you just called me a kid in a condescending voice, i don't have to put up with your attitude. you don't like your job, then get the hell out, cause the way i see it, i'm going to take you to court, i'm gonna write in the newspapers, and i'm going to raise all sorts of hell because you godamn county mounties always speed.

needless to say, i got a hold of internal affairs and they were plenty pissed. first a cop was speeding, then he's god a smartass mouth, then he might/might not be useing all the proper tools for his job. (the microphone, and his radar gun, this ass hole had the fucking nerve to write on the ticket that he paced me) i hope that fucker got fired and thrown out of his place and on the streets...fuck em!

Here's another story of an asshole cop:

i was driving my friends home from a party out of town,( we're responsible and use a dd) and as i get near the city it goes from 100Kmph to 70Kmph and i take off my cruise and slow down as i pass the 70 sign a cop turns on his lights and pulls me over, i was doing 5 over and slowing down, he comes up to my car and i was being polite the entire time, he asks me for my licence and when i show it to him he goes "still on probation eh?" (i was only 16) "well if you get a ticket you lose your licence right?", i say "yeah" then he says, "well i saw you were only doing 5 over and you were slowing down so i'll do you a favour........" i'm really happy cause i think he's going to let me off as a warning seeing as how it's my first time caught speeding and i would lose my licence, but instead he finnishes with "......i'll take $5 off your ticket for you so you only have to pay $90" i was sooo angry, i was only doing 5 over and the fucker knew i was slowing down to 70

take it to court, and then ask him how often he calibrates his radar gun, he won't know what to answer. 5mph or 5kph won't stand up in court, because those radar guns are not exact with speeds, they are off by 3-5 mph. and if it's not re-calibrated well, then it's off by even more.

another thing is that cops have quotas to fill. this is not just a myth, considering that i went into a sotre one time and a DPS was right in front of me. the cashier said there's alot of cops out tonight. and the DPS said, yeah, quotas have to be met by tomorrow, so police, sherriff and DPS are out and hot tonight. sure enough that night i got pulled over for a rolling stop. luckily it was just a warning, but damn, quotas are illegal, so what gives? they must have some sort of stupid loophole that allows them, and if a cop is trying to reach his quota, any littler mistake could result in a ticket.

Yeah it's the same here, I know a retired police man and his tip is that the worst times are the beginning and end of the month. Beginning, everyone's keening to get a headstart, and end they're trying to catch up.

i wouldn't put much stake in quotas. They could fill those up in a day if they really felt like it.

they have quotas in edmonton.

photo radar quotas! i was reading the Journal once, and it said in there that we give out something like FIVE TIMES the number of photo radar tickets that the LAPD gives out every year.

What the HELL is up with that? There are millions more people in LA then in Edmonton. Shouldn't it be the other way around.

I hate those fucking photo radar vans.

huh? I didn't say quotas were made up. In my opinion, quotas are there to make sure cops do their job, not to screw people over. What I was trying to say is that with or without a quota, cops could give out way more tickets than they do if they really wanted to dick with people. Ask any cop, filling a quota is easy.
