Ottawa can't give them more attention because there isn't more attention to give. One good thing about the States is that they don't all complain to Washington. They rely on their own governments more. The provences are too dependent on Ottawa.
That's why it's good to live in Ontario. We're the spoiled favourites.

the states have a vastly more decentralized government, thusly the states don't need to rely on washington as much.
the fact is that we have an entire region here who has poltically opposite views to the east, but can't get anything done because of the incredible power and reach of the federal government. we don't have the votes to get rid of the liberals, so despite the fact that the majority of westerners don't like eastern politics, we still have to live with them.
this is the ultimate failing of demockracy. alienation of the minority.

it's tough to govern such a large countyr with mulitple needs. It's vastly different in the way of life from east to west. I don't think you can compare it to any other country in the world in this way other than maybe Russia...

it gets so much worse, when you learn about things like the canadian wheat board and transfer payments.
alberta is the richest province and as a result we end up carrying the entire fucking country on our backs. we pay for most of the services and use the least.
this country is fucked. if you live in the east as most people do and are happily leeching off of the citizens of the west you don't notice so much, but come over to this end of the nation and you suddenly discover why it blows that our prime minister has the most unopposed power of any parlimentarily elected leader in all of the modern world.

then you need to elect people that will re-write your constitution and take his powers away. in texas the governor is useless to the government system, but he recomends alot of things...so either way, you got to deal with the dude in charge. cause what he wants, he gets if his part is in charge.

That would mean Canada would become a republic. We'd lose our connections to Britain and all the history and heritage that we were built upon.

right... because America is one of the view countries in the world where you don't need to have the majority of votes in order to win an election... makes sense to me...
