20 users online. None of them talking. All are emerged in music. I dig.

Hmm. So far one of the softest albums 2/3 in. Prolly more falsetto on HIPT.

Only up to track 4, but the album has a very eery vibe so far, in a good way.

Basic judgement for now, after 1st listen-through (will re-rate tomorrow after multiple listens, to see if anything ages well and grows on me)
(bad, mediocre, ok, good, very good, amazing)
Allowance - good/very good
FITHH - good
Heavyweight - very good
Window Seat - ok
As Fast as You Can - very good/amazing
If This Is It - very good/amazing
Will Someday Change - mediocre
Find Our Way Home - good
Rabbits - good
Mettle - mediocre
The only 2 songs I didn't really enjoy were Someday and Mettle. Window Seat is only ok, but it may grow on me. I thought Rabbits would have a bit more energy, but it's decent. Highlights are definitely As Fast As You Can and If This Is It. First half is very solid, up to song 6. Then it kind of loses a bit of its energy.
Overall it definitely beat my expectations, though I think Raine should have used more range and energy.

Halfway through the record. Holy fuck. OLP.. you fuckers.
A lot of depth in some of these tracks that I haven't heard from the band in a while. Back to form. Back to form. Very different, but also very good.
EDIT: Ok, 3/4 in now. OLP are still a bunch of motherfuckers. Goddamn. I forgot they could be this good. This is seriously a great OLP album. Chills. Those clips do not approach doing the songs justice.

On first listen, I thought Someday was a very beautiful song....almost in a 4 am kinda way.RileyLewis wrote:Basic judgement for now, after 1st listen-through (will re-rate tomorrow after multiple listens, to see if anything ages well and grows on me)

I listened to the stream quietly, but I would love a rip of it via PM whenever somebody gets around to it. I love this album.
Talk, talk is cheap, puts me to sleep.

My list of 'toos':
Too many fedoras.
Too many pairs of tight black jeans.
Too many guys in a room. (Four is enough.)

Holy Shit, Find Our Way started alot harder than I was expecting.
What a trippy ass bridge it has. This album is made of so much win, it's not even logical. Guitar Solo is so fucking sick in Find Our Way.

Alright I *really* need to go to bed, but after re-listening to a few songs I really find Find Our Way growing on me. Just listening to Rabbits then going to bed...mind you I said that a few songs ago...

by the way..... shortest OLP album ever... it runs at 30:22, which is 8 minutes less than burn burn (WITHOUT the 2 bonus tracks)

I think you're missing a few songs, because the actual length of all 10 songs is 41 minutes.

No, it's 41 minutes. Where did you get 30 minutes?

Upgrading Rabbits to very good/amazing. Can't wait to hear that one live, as I predict it will be the type of song like Naveed that they stretch out.
My only wish was that As Fast As You Can was about 1 minute longer!

Also the lyrics:
I know a girl, got a long snake moan
Got the voodoo in her hips and a god-shaped hole
I got a feeling that the kids don't know
Hah.
