Glad to see another one of the few who think Healthy was better. I felt like it had more effort, and musically took a few more chances and had more to appreciate. It wasn't an awesome album, but it was definitely a step in the right direction.Beason52 wrote:I am saying that it was better than Gravity. It was still a step in the right direction from SOT and Made of Steel.
A/L/S, Picture, WTS...Al Genina, Boy. It may have not been a great album but it was a lot better than Gravity. Half the songs on Gravity I could easily see Nickelback doing.
Burn Burn, thoughts?

Sadly, I think this is either their worst, or next to worst album. Just nothing that grabs my ear consistently. Nothing too horrible, but nothing great song wise....
Spiritual Machines 9/10
Clumsy 9/10
Healthy in Paranoid Times 8/10
Happiness 8/10
Naveed 6/10
Gravity 5/10
Burn Burn 5/10 (at this point)

There are some bads and goods from both HIPT and Gravity, but for me the bads outweigh the goods in HIPT.M2 wrote:If you get technical with it, Gravity had most traits from the first four.
Emotion: Yeah
Falsetto: Not as much but yeah
Guitar: meh
Gravity:
Good - Raine's voice still emotive/aggressive, natural song flow/structure, brave new direction, some good guitar, good hooks, All For You
Bad - Mainstream ballady songs, some not-so-good guitar, too short, less paranoid falsetto voice
HIPT:
Good - A bit of falsetto back in A/L/S, and...?
Bad - Forced/contrived song structure, no hooks, bad choruses, Raine's voice lacking, lacklustre guitar, some really empty songs (Walking in Circles?!?)
... anyone care to elaborate?

I don't like the fact that the only song that i find myself NEEDING to hear is -- "escape artist". I like "paper moon" as well.M2 wrote:Ouch! Burn Burn gets lower than healthy? Maybe Gravity but wow harsh. what don't you like?JSMc247 wrote:Naveed: 8.0/10
Clumsy: 9.0/10
Happiness: 9.5/10
Spiritual: 10/10
Gravity: 6.5/10
Healthy: 5.5/10
Burn: 4.5/10 (its still early tho)
On "healthy" i really enjoyed 'apology' and 'al genina'. i also like 'a/l/s' and 'boy'.
Theres more shit on "healthy" that i just have to skip over because its such commercialized crap i can't stand it. Like i've said -- its still early yet for 'burn burn'.

On first two listens, during which I wasn't really able to focus just on the album, I'm not very impressed by a lot of the songs on this album. My copy should arrive tomorrow so I'll give it another listen over the weekend or something.

I actually somewhat like Gravity, but to give it a 10/10 with Spiritual Machines... No thanks.

That's true, to a sense, but when a band named "Our Lady Peace" sounds nothing today like a band named "Our Lady Peace" did from 1994–2001, usually you end up with people like us who can't shut up about it.senseofurgency wrote:oh so true.. music is to be enjoyed. if you're not enjoying it, don't listen to itRural Juror wrote:Geez.
