Interview with Raine...

Post by trentm32 »

I'm gearing up to do an e-mail Q&A with Raine for Sound The Sirens, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for questions that should perhaps be included? Just going for some ideas, so if there are any legitimate questions you guys have perhaps had bouncing around, toss 'em down, and if they fit the format I'll try to work them in somehow.

Also, I reviewed the EP here, too. I liked it. A LOT.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

Something I've been mulling around in my head for a while that I want to know is:

How does Raine (and OLP as a band) react to fans who tell them that OLP's music has saved their lives, changed their lives, kept them going, etc? Do they get that reaction a lot? How does it feel to know that they have had that kind of impact on people?

Good question, but you know that he will prolly give one of the generic "It honors me that people take our music and it makes them change their lives. If there is anything I can take away from making music it is that."

Or something similar.

I'm still curious on his opinions on selling songs. Hes sold his songs to pop stars and (hypocritically??) canadian idol. How does he feel letting other people sing and play his music? Why did he do it? Does he like or not like what they've done with the songs? Does he plan to keep doing it? blah blah....:D

Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire

(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

It's exclusively online, and covers indie music, and culture--as well as the occasional film, dvd, tv series, etc. I got involved with the site about two years ago, and have managed to work my way up to Senior Staff Writer, now. It started about five+ years ago, with the original intent of being a weekly/bi-weekly "online publication," with new "issues" kind-of posted a couple times per month.

It grew over time, and has now become what it is today; a daily updated (at least with news; a new set of articles/reviews go live every other day) website geared toward indie music lovers. In the vein of Prefix but with more focus, or Pitchfork without the pretension.

Bladaw.

You never know, sometimes he's original in his interviews and it's something I've been curious about. I mean, when I told Duncan that their music saved my life, he looked all shocked and all he could say was "Wow, that's incredible."
