When I have to hear them a million times a day on the radio, it starts to wear me a little thin ;___;
I want a radio station completely programmed by me. I can't listen to LaunchCast at work, and I don't have the hard drive space to mix my own CD. So blah.
Can non-mods post in the MuchMusic Video Awards thread?

I'm kinda like Sarah. When my friends listen to, in my opinion, crappy music, I might tease them, but I enjoy it as well. I will sing and have a good time, but I know what I like and what I listen to when it is up to me. But I would also like to see some other bands get the recognition they deserve, especially OLP in the US. But that's not likely to happen too soon, because of HIPT and how it was so political, especially toward our gov't. But who knows.
their lack of success in the US has nothing to do with their political viewsOlp_waited wrote:I'm kinda like Sarah. Yeah, considering just over 30% of the country still agrees with Bush...I'd say they would have a better shot here with their political views.Kathy14 wrote:their lack of success in the US has nothing to do with their political viewsOlp_waited wrote:I'm kinda like Sarah. I think it's just because the American public is conditioned to love SHIT. Complete and utter shit. I mean look at all the crap that's being spewed all over the television, and all over the radio...we are a crap-loving nation. It's pretty disgusting.

Or you know... they're a band whose prime was more than half a decade ago... It's like complaining that no one cares about Smash Mouth anymore. OLP just comes from a different era. It isn't even that the public likes crappy music, it's just that there is access to so much more music out there than there was when OLP started, that OLP are pretty irrelevent. Through the net I can find bands that have more depth, more talent, more meaning than anything OLP has made in the last 5 years and because of that there is no reason to question why OLP isn't that popular anymore.
Also, there's more to these award shows (especially ones for mediocre tv stations) than what we're told. Typically, the MMVA award winners have been bands that have showed up to the award show, and/or bands whose labels are trying to push them, so they get the station to give them awards. Nickleback is a moneymaker for Sony, and they want them to be in the spotlight as much as possible. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some back room negotiations between the labels and muchmusic to try and influence Much to give certain bands awards, whether this involves bribes, "sponsorships" or access to the band in the future, or for the award show (since people won't care about the show if no one good shows up to play).

I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.
