ooh, all these great recipes are making me hungry. We should have a favourite recipes thread so I can get meal ideas when I don't know what to make for dinner!

What the hell? I know I started it, but apparently I've only ever made one post with the word 'recipe' in it.

Oh well, start a new one!

Okay, so welcome to our new thread for recipes you'd like to share. Saman's <a href="http://www.clumsymonkey.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11572/"> Meal Planning Help</a> thread resulted in some recipe ideas that sound really yummy

I don't want to copy the recipes from that thread over here, because they weren't my own, but please feel free. I'll dig up some of my good ones to add here as well.

Mmmm... I can't wait to try some of the ones that were posted on the other thread!

well, here is a recipe from my second cousin once removed (?), who says it's the best pancake recipe in the world. i am just passing on the information.

1 cup flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons baking powder
mix.
add:

one egg.
stir. mixture should be lumpy.
add:

1 cup milk
stir and let sit for about 5 minutes or longer. while its sitting heat a non-stick pan to medium heat, before adding batter stir in about 1 tablespoon of oil. spoon into pan into small to medium sized pancakes (any bigger and they dont cook/flip well) flip once the bubbles have popped and edges look slightly dry. cook the other side for about the same time, dont move them around or you dont get a nice browned look. serve hot with pure maple syrup.

i also have this HUUUUUUGE book on juice and smoothie recipes and the pictures in it make me want to lick the pages. i haven't tried any of them yet, but i'll post some of those up when i get the time.

Sundae Brownie Pie

1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup Hershey's semisweet chips
1/2 cup Reese's peanut butter chips
1/2 cup butter -- melted
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup Hershey's cocoa
1/2 cup chopped nuts
ice cream
Hershey's chocolate topping
1/4 teaspoon salt
Hershey's milk chocolate kisses

Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Generously prick bottom and sides of pie crust with fork. Bake crust 10 minutes; remove from oven.

Meanwhile, in large bowl, beat eggs; stir in sugar and butter. Stir together flour, cocoa and salt; add to butter mixture. Stir in vanilla, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips and nuts. Pour into pie crust; return to oven.

Bake additional 25 to 30 minutes or until almost set. (Pie will not test done in center.) Serve warm or cool with ice cream; drizzle with topping. Garnish with KISS.

Microwave meatloaf
--------------------------
1 lb lean ground beef
1 egg
1/3 cup ketchup
2 tbsp milk
1 envelope instant onion soup OR 1 small diced onion

Combine all on a large plate and shape into ringshape
Cover with waxed paper and cook at medium for 10 minutes.
Drain liquid if needed.
Let stand covered for 5 min.
Mix ketchup and dijon mustard ( 2 to 1) and cover top of meatloaf





Boston meatballs and gravy
---------------------------------
1 lb lean ground beef
1/3-1/2 Italian bread crumbs
1 egg
1/2 cup grated Regiano parmesan
1 clove garlic minced
1 small onion diced
handful of fresh parsley chopped
salt and pepper (good pinch)

Mix together with clean hands or fork and shape into clementine-size
meatballs.
In frypan put enough olive oil to cover bottom,set at medium(6)
Brown meatballs,turn once, for about 5 minutes
Remove to medium size pot.
Drain some oil from frypan if you need to
Add another small, diced onion and minced garlic clove. Stir to cook for
about 2 min.
Add small can Italian tomato paste
Put water in empty can and add, can put two cans if too thick
Stir to mix and add to to pot with meatballs
Cover and cook on low heat(3) for about 1 hour. Stir every 15min and add
water if too thick.

Serve over cooked pasta. Capellini cooks fastest, 5 min. or less.

Can you added diced apple to make apple pancakes?

i'm pretty sure you can add anything from blueberries to chocolate chips.

Alright. These cookies get devoured whenever I make them. The recipe comes from my mommom.

WARNING: They're addictive and you might end up eating the whole batch yourself. (You think I'm joking, but it's true. At Christmas, my uncle kept eating them and was yelling at himself that he had to stop. And my cousin who NEVER eats dessert ate a bunch.)

Molasses Sugar Cookies

¾ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
¼ cup molasses
1 egg
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon cloves
½ teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt

Melt shortening in 3 or 4 quart saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat, let cool. Add sugar, molasses and egg; beat well. Sift together flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt; add to first mixture. Mix well; chill. Form in 1 inch balls, roll in granulated sugar and place on greased cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Bake in moderately hot oven 375°F for 8-10 minutes.

Note from Nikki: I always cook them for 8 minutes. They turn out soft and wonderful that way. I also use salted butter rather than shortening.

If anyone has a recipe for soft flapjacks I will love you forever. My Mummy used to make them, but I just can't get her recipe to not go hard and crunchy when I cook them, and I've tried other recipes and playing with ingredients and cooking time and temperature with no luck.
