Goblet of Fire DVD Release March 7th?

Over the past few weeks rumors have been swirling about on the net regarding a possible release date for the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire DVD. Some have said it was to be on April 4th, and now two today reached us with a different date. Davis DVD and Video ETA have posted release dates now as March 7th , 2006. The info on the Davis site says that there will be a two-disc set with " deleted scenes, behind the scenes featurettes, set top games and activities-including the Triwizard Tournament Challenge-and more. "

While we can NOT yet confirm either of these dates, we do know that previously on Nov. 7th we reported on things to be included in this DVD. Quotage:

"Jarvis Cocker and Radiohead play songs which are short in the film, but are in full on the DVD...I've done a director's commentary, of course." Producer David Heyman also spoke of the Goblet DVD saying "There will be some deleted scenes, how we did certain things, how the effects were done and behind the scenes interviews - probably greater access that we've ever had before."

So while all this sounds very promising, we consider these dates as still very much rumor until WB officially announces the release date for the GoF DVD.

a couple friends and i went to see gof today. we got there at 6:15 for the 6:30 show and it was already sold out. considering the movie's been out for more than a month, that's pretty darn impressive. so, since it's still getting sold out, chances are it's not leaving theatres for a while. therefore we can probably expect the dvd to come out fairly late. that's my theory anyway.

i don't know, joey. warner home videos has said that's when it'll be released, but warner bros hasn't confirmed anything yet. the leaky cauldron and hpana both warn with this news that it's unconfirmed and we should only treat it as a rumour for now. i went to the theatres again yesterday to watch narnia, and the goblet of fire showing for that day was sold out again, which makes me think it'll be in theatres for a while. march 7 would be awesome, but i think it's too early. of course, if i'm wrong, i'll eat my hat. which, actually, i don't own any hats, so it's kind of impossible for me to do

I went to the theatre specifically with hopes of seeing it again and it was sold out! I couldn't believe it!!!

it was sold out when my friend and i went to see it on boxing day too

we got there early so we were okay. my friend was like, "do you think we'll be the only ones in the theatre since it's boxing day?" um no.

then i bought a bowl of ice cream the size of my head.

i want the dvd now

yay! we finally got into the goblet of fire! after seeing it twice now, i think i've decided that i like this movie better than poa. and i liked voldemort a little better this time, though he still has room for improvement. wormtail's my biggest disappointment, followed by dumbledore.

and we also figured out why gof is getting sold out constantly. they've moved the movie to a smaller theatre, so there's less people capacity.

i do like gof but the 3rd is still my favorite .. too many disappointments in gof and the way they destroyed dumbledore's character .. but it definitely has it's moments .. i love voldemort's portrayal and the graveyard scene was amazingly well done .. but it was way too rushed in the beginning and the maze was rather boring with the lack of things they encountered .. it's a good action movie which is what the director wanted but it's lacking actual content and story .. they left out too many things that were important .. like harry giving the twins his money at the end .. and the ending in general was too happy and cheesy considering a student had been murdered and the greatest dark wizard of all time had returned.

as long as i look at it as just a movie .. rather than a movie based on a book it's okay. i'm just glad this director isn't doing the next one. i would have cried since the 5th book is my favorite so i'm anxious about seeing it made into a movie.

i missed seeing sirius/gary too .. gof is really when harry's relationship with sirius starts to develop .. i don't think non-readers are going to be affected by his death in the 5th movie since they didn't get a chance in the 4th to really love sirius. not much they could do about that though since gary was busy with another movie and could only phone in his lines.... but yeah. poor sirius.

my biggest beef was with dumbledore .. they changed his character too much and in most of the scenes towards the end gambon stopped wearing dumbledore's glasses entirely .. umm missing props? my friend was like, "maybe dumbledore has contacts." nooooooooooo

dumbledore is supposed to wear his glasses. and gambon didn't know how to pronounce the name of the beauxbaton's school .. it's FRENCH and he kept saying it wrong .. and throughout the movie they changed the pronoucement of the word 'cruciatus' twice .. once when neville said it and then when karkaroff said it .. a bit of inconsistency there.

then again gambon admits to not reading the books and says he plays dumbledore as himself entirely rather then attempt to get into character .. right.

no offense sir michael gambon but i'd rather see you portraying dumbledore, not you portraying yourself. k thanks.

Joey, I agree. I liked GoF but as far as it goes as a movie, it was not nearly as good as the third. No transitions between a lot of the scenes, lack of that gorgeous cinematography, the character issues, etc. I kinda wish that Alfonso Cuaron was directing the rest of the movies.

most people seem to hate the 3rd movie but i loved it and i love alfonso .. the way he made the whomping willow change throughout the seasons .. it made it seem like things were playing out over time .. in gof, you're right .. there's no transitioning between scenes and it seems like that whole tournament took about a week when it was supposed to seem like it took the entire school year. it made the movie seem very choppy and unorganized.

i'd be happy with alfonso directing the rest of them

Which is too bad .. she was brilliant. I figured they were going to cut her since they didn't put in the part about her being an animagus in the 4th movie.

and this made me cry:

Mike Newell, stated quite vehemently that he would love to return to direct movie number seven.

We have descriptions of all eight deleted scenes on the upcoming Goblet of Fire DVD:

SCENE 1: Dumbledore asks his students to welcome the Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students as warmly as possible, and the Hogwarts students then break into song ("Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts").

SCENE 2: A Durmstrang student asks a girl to go to the Yule Ball with him. She says yes, while two of her friends gesture something in the background.

SCENE 3: Harry tries to catch Cho, but she's surrounded by her friends, so he waits until later (at the Owlery) to ask her out.

SCENE 4: Flitwick introduces the Weird Sisters band at the Yule Ball, the lead singer makes a short speech, and they then start one of their songs.

SCENE 5: Karkaroff warns Snape about the growing strength of the Dark Mark, which is emblazoned on both of their arms. Snape pays no heed to his warnings, and instead mentions something about Fawcett and Stebbins (two students), who appear briefly in the scene.

SCENE 6: Mr. Crouch talks with Harry, and during their discussion, Mad-Eye Moody appears, prompting Mr. Crouch to leave.

SCENE 7: Harry, Ron, and Hermione discuss Mr. Crouch's death and its implications. Ron thinks that Fudge will do his best to hush up the incident, and Hermione suggests that Harry talks to Dumbledore about it.

SCENE 8: The trio guess what Karkaroff is hiding on his arm. Hermione asks Harry which ingredients Snape claims he stole from his cupboard, and she quickly realizes that they are ingredients in the Polyjuice Potion.

*gasp* the weird sisters?! they're stealing the name of the band "the wyrd sisters"! we must sue them!

that's probably why that scene was cut.. to avoid actually saying the name in the movie and causing anymore problems with that whole fiasco.
