Okay, here's how it all went down.
We woke up super early and went to my mom's work to print out the tickets for tonight's show that I left until the last minute. My printer died. So we got that done, and my mom dropped us off at the skytrain, and we headed downtown. We got there at around 7am, a bit too early, but we walked around, got a drink, and ended up standing in the lobby for quite some time. Finally the FOX guys came down, called out our names, and escorted us up. We had to stand around in their office for a bit before they put us in the kitchen. I rushed over and got a seat at the table closest to the stage. I was right infront of Steve, it was brilliant.
So we wait around, and they let us grab some food. I'm at a position where I could see the hallways where the band would come from, so I kept an eye out. At one point I thought I spotted Raine, but he turned out to be a roadie who just looked a hell of a lot like Raine. Finally, I spotted Raine himself, followed by a small portion of Jeremy's head. They disappeared, and didn't reappear for a few minutes. The DJ's then introduced the band, and they played Picture for us. That wasn't on the air, they did that for their soundcheck. Then they played it again, but I didn't care, it was still really cool.
The show sounded amazing. I'm listening to a recording of Picture right now, and it sounds nowhere near as good as it sounded there. I hope someone got a satellite rip or something, because it was a great set. I wish they had played an old song, but oh well. Between the set the band took off backstage, to get water or something, and Steve stayed behind to mess with his guitar. So I went up and talked to him. I introduced myself, and he was very very nice. He asked if I was going to the show that night, I said I was going to both, and I showed him my wristband. I told him I was a drummer, and he asked how long I had been playing, and told me that I'd be able to talk to Jeremy when he came back.
So on with the show. Jeremy was stuck without a mic, so he was trying to use the one that was meant to pick up his little shakey thingy that he was using. That wasn't working so well. Jeremy had a pretty cool set up. He was using wire brushes, and he had a bass drum, a snare drum, and a tambourine that he taped to the floor and hit with his foot. Then with his right hand he shook some weird looking thing that was filled with beads or something. But if you listen to the recordings, that's what was making the shakey shakey noise.
All the songs sounded great. There was a lot of feedback towards the beginning, and Jeremy made some joke about him ending up as deaf as Keith (they were talking about the Stones at the time). I'm sure you can hear me laughing after that one. The accoustics were great, everything sounded great, and I was amazed that everyone doing backup together sounded so good.
I wanted to ask a question, but I coudln't think of one before some guy jumped up and ran over to the microphone. Oh well, should have prepared I suppose! I would have given a shout out to the hub for sure.
So, the show ended, I was in aww, and now I had to figure out how to talk to the guys. I thought they were just going to take off, but I managed to grab Jeremy and chat with him. He was pretty nice too, we didn't really have a conversation, but we kept talking about how I was the only one with a pen and everyone was borrowing it (that pen has since vanished). I got him to write "TO KAEGAN" on my signed sleeve for HIPT so that I wouldn't confuse it with the one I already had. He had trouble spelling it, I had to spell it out for him, haha. He was standing up on the stage when we took the picture with him, so he was like, "Oh, I'm too tall, gotta duck down". Random thing, but it just came to mind.
Duncan was all by himself on the corner of the stage, no one seemed to be bothering him at all. So I went over and got him to sign my CD insert, and I asked him about the CM meet up... well it was more of a statement, he was kind of quiet. I got a picture picture with him though, so it's all good.
Anyway, I have two more shows to go to tonight! WOO! I'll post pics in the next thread.

Here's the general set up... Jer drummer face. It was in a cafeteria, and I was right upfront, sitting in a chair.

Steve, kinda weird lookin' pic.

You can kind of see how small it is... I was right up front, with my chair, infront of Steve.

Stever needs to look up more.

More drummer face.

Me with Raine and Duncan

and finally, the picture I've been waiting 5 years to have taken.

Also I think the reason Steve really grew his hair is so we can't see his face. If you get to see his face while performning you are damn lucky..
sounds like ou had fun.
you said you had two shows. I am confused. is that two shows in one night or counting the breakfest thing and concert..?
I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again
