I said this on the hub, but not here, so... I think the choppiness of the song might come from being fans of SOAD (unless I'm on crack and remembering band members say they like them even though they never have).

Soad makes choppy good, olp cant pull it off. P.S Mesmerize is an amazing cd.

Well, I can definatly say that the original version was a more suitable single than this one. Also, I am not sure whether I can like this song or not. :S

with regards to the soad thing. yes they have choppy songs, but it's very obvious that that is their intent, when this song it just sounds sloppy and not very well thought through. And what's up with all the soad hate, theyr'e one my favourite bands.

mmmm i find them interesting. the choppiness seems to add a little something. but i haven't heard too much of them, so consider me neutral.

Exactly. I don't know about the SOAD references, but I agree with your take on it. Where Are You seems like listening to another promosquad clip - it's like little parts of a song chopped up, rearranged and thrown together. The clips could seemingly be arranged into a song, but as it stands it's just a jumbled mess. There's too many hooks one right after the other, with nothing of any substance to hold them up.

Still not quite radio radio if you get my gist but it's getting there.

I think I cried the first time I heard OLP on the radio here!

Thats true tho, but we've been hypnotized for months by promosquad clips, so when we finally hear the actually uncut, full version it feels weird, I had the same feeling, but ever since downloading the song yesterday I've listened to it at least 3 times an hour, and now it's starting to blend together imo anyways

I listened to the song again while I was out driving around. I caught myself singing along to the tune. I like all the transitions except for when it goes back to "come on come on" after the mothers and daughters part. I'd be quite satisfied if that transition were less awkward. Otherwise, it's catchy and upbeat. The lyrics aren't going to suit everyone and neither will the music, but for Matt, I'm satisfied.
