Saw

Post by Xavier870 »

Anyone seen this movie yet? I watched it a couple nights ago. A lot of people that I talked to who had seen it thought it was either "an excuse for violence" or "just disturbing". I thought it was really well thought out. I'm gonna have to watch it again though, because there were like 13 of us there, and people were talking / laughing the entire movie, so I missed a lot.
Some of you probably think I left. But was I ever here to start?

It's really good. Poorly acted, but it was made on a budget of 1 million dollars. Danny Glover alone gets that amount per movie usually, so I don't blame anyone for not trying to give an Oscar worthy performance.

The only thing that sucks is, there was a way better version that was left on the cutting room floor in North America because if they didn't cut a bunch of stuff it would have been given a NC-17 rating. Europe and all the film festivals were given the original version and it's supposed to be far superior to the one we have here. Even though I quite enjoyed the version we got. I just won't buy it until I find out if an original or director's cut version will be released, or I might buy a PAL version and convert it to NTSC and just watch my burned copy.

What was the plot of this movie? It's always advertised on Spike TV, but the adds don't really tell you much.

i think it was stupid because: the loser lying in the middle of the floor would have been breathing the whole time

almost everything else was good, so it was a decent movie,
but that's kind of a big thing to not account for.

some psycho takes people who arent happy with their lives and puts them into fucked up places/games where they have almost no chance of escaping.

if they escape they'll have a whole new outlook, just happy to be alive
but otherwise they die in the most brutal ways possible.

the movie focuses on a few people thrown into one of these games, and fucks with your mind like hell for about an hour and a half.
It's pretty good, but i didn't like the ending.

I'm wondering why it's in the serious discussion area, myself.

well for me movies are a serious discussion topic. The only problem is I know way too much about them to actually have a conversation with most people on this board.

With the exception of a few like MageMaida.

oh man, i first saw this movie on my friends computer in her tiny dorm room with no lights on, with two other people huddled on the bed at 2am. i thought this movie was the scariest thing ever. i had nightmares thinking that dude was going to come after me. but, i bought the movie when it came out, and it wasn't as scary the second time. i liked it.

i just saw this last night. when it was dark. and i was alone.

of course, that sounds like i woulda been scared out of my mind, but really, i wasn't.

it just screwed with my brain,

i still loved it, though.
"if the nuremberg trials were applied to us foreign policy, every us president since 1945 would have been hanged." noam chomsky.

...and this is me hanging on / i'd burn our initials in the sun if it would shine / anxiety chokes me like razor wire / if hate's in your heart man, you'll take what you're given / wake up / i'm not the only one / it's never goodbye / go ahead and play dead / if everyone's a casualty, then take your time, there ain't no trouble / these wounds they will not heal / ambition can be a tricky thing / what the hell do i know about rape anyway? / this is not what i hoped for / ain't it so weird how it makes you a weapon / who will be there to tell me how stupid i am? / those living for death will die by their own hand / and it's me that I am spying on / pick up the pieces and live with the stars / hurry up and wait / things have never been so swell / they're always the ones who slowly drift / be great / ...and this is my world.

i liked this movie.
Whenever death may surprise us,
let it be welcome
if our battle cry has reached even one receptive ear
and another hand reaches out to take up our arms.

Nobody's gonna miss me, no tears will fall, no ones gonna weap, when i hit that road.
my boots are broken my brain is sore, fer keepin' up with thier little world, i got a heavy load.
gonna leave 'em all just like before, i'm big city bound, your always 17 in your hometown

i just saw this movie today. i liked it. a lot.
you have to, you just have to trust me
whoever i was then i can't ever be again
the faith you've found i've never felt
the terror held in wedding bells
the comfort in "there's no one else"
the truth be told, i'm never going to know
