From personal experience, dating a friend can work out great. I mean you can't date all of your friends cause that makes things a lil awkward but if you have a friend that you could picture being with then give it a shot. You already know what they're like and how they act and everything.

The great thing about it is that we don't have to be bf/gf all the time with the other and be swooning and acting all lovey dovey all the time. She's just as much my best friend as my girlfriend and it makes life so much greater.
I find that's the problem with most relationships. Most people don't know how to be friends with their significant other and become bored or create stupid thoughts and play mind games which lead to fights and breakups.
The main rule is that if things don't seem to be working you stop it there. For the first while you put the friendship before the relationship. You have to expect it will be a slow process and you have to be willing to give it time, but if things seem too awkward or too forced then you have to stop it right away and return to the normal friendship.

dating a friend can work .. but if it doesn't .. you just lost a really good friend
because once you date someone, it's hard to go back to being friends ..

Be careful when dating friends. It can work out but then if it doesn't it can really mess things up, or not at all, depends on the situation.

Both people after the relationship also have to realize it's over and move on and go back to being friends and only friends. If one person can't do that, then of course it's not going to work.

but you know, you have to talk about this stuff going into the relationship and throughout. It's all about communication. You have to agree to be open with eachother and be willing to be honest. I think the side that still would want it to work would be able to overcome their feelings for the sake of the friendship since they would have talked openly about it since the beginning.
