Who are you 2 talking about? First of all the author of UnitedNorthAmerica specifically specifies Canada as the USs' biggest trading partner. And if he didn't care about Canada, why would he choose to live there? And resign from what? He doesn't hold any political office as far as I know. I'm assuming you both meant Bush?

I was talking about myself when I mentioned the unifyer dividing the countries... read back a few posts.

What actually happened with the "prime Minister poutine" incident...

Rick Mercer (kinda of like the Canadian version of Jon Stewart) did a thing called "Talking to Americans" which basically involved asking Americans questions about Canada. It was shown on the CBC and is probably one of the funniest programs ever put on tv here. It was just a one hour special, but it was very hilarious.
Anyways, Mercer ran into Bush and asked him "Prime Minister Poutine from Canada sends his best wishes for the upcoming election." Bush responded, "You can tell Prime Minister Poutine that I am glad to have him as a friend" It may be that he had misunderstood and thought her was referring to Putin of Rossia but Mercer said Prime Minister Poutine of Canada so that's why it was so funny.

I also have to say that some people here are very paranoid. I'm actually a little bit surprised by so,me of the things that have been said.
Here's a rundown...

1. A war in another nation will not happen. Bush already has his hands full with Iraq, and frankly I think he's going to stop there. He doesn't have the men to wage war around the world, which brings me to...

2. The draft. I don't believe he will put in the draft either. A bill to reinstate the draft a few months ago resulted in a 402-2 vote against reinstating the draft. Some people believe it was a political maneuver, but you have to take into account that most of these politicians are career politicians and want to do whatever they feel is best for themselves to get into power for another term. Sending their kids to war isn't going to be good when it comes around to election time.

3. I don't like Bush much either. I'm not standing up for him, but I think too many people here consider him the devil. You don't know what things would have been like if Kerry won. You can only assume, and frankly that's not a very sound argument.

Maybe I just expected Bush to win, so didn't care too much about this election.

Another thing I should add is that you don't know what Bush is going to do this term yet either! Everyone's afraid of what could happen, but honestly lots of things could happen that won't.

How is that the worst comment ever? I stand by my belief that Canadians and Americans are very similar in culture. When I said I'd be offended if you called me Canadian, well...that was what I like to call sarcasm with a twist of reality. No, I wouldn't really be offended. But don't try to tell me that half of you would shit your pants if someone thought you were American.

And yes, I think Kerry is a bigger douche than Bush. You won't be able to change my mind. And you laughing at my idiocity doesn't make this board a great place to be at.

Anyhow, I know I've been a little bit ruder than I usually am in this thread, but I don't think I've offended anyone. If I have, I'm sorry. But you must realize I am pretty much outnumbered on all my veiws here, and I'm not going to change them just because of that. I want to stay at the CM, but it's pretty hard being one of what...two...conservatives?

You obviously don't understand the American media. So many people voted for him because they don't realize anything's wrong, and people fear change... their only opportunities to hear the truth was in the smear campaign against Bush in political ads, and nobody listens to those anyway because they're usually lies. The news doesn't report politics because people don't want to watch that. News is all about ratings, it's ridiculous.

I'm agreeing with Cass here. There are very few differences between the USA and Canada. Being from Windosr I would think you would notice this, but apparently Windsor isn't close enough to the USA for you. In fact you're closer to more American people than you are Canadian people within 350 kilometres of you.

My dad lives in the states. Has lived there all of his life. If I showed you him, and let him talk to you, I guarentee you wouldn't know if he was American or Canadian. How do I know? Cause I've done it before. When my girlfriend first met him she had no clue where he was from. I told her the US and she was surprised by it.

Cass' conservative views are absolutely no different than the views you might see in Alberta. Is Alberta a part of Canada, Jonny? Do they have a Conservative govt? Do they vote Conservative in every election? The answer to all of those are yes, so how is this any different than Cass' beliefs?

Cass, I may not be a conservative, but I can see where you're coming from and as much as it sucks being one of the few conservatives don't stop posting in here. It might allow people to actually learn about other points of view instead of just bashing.

Ah, I think you are mistaken on this point. You seem to think that anyone who voted for Bush was uninformed. Which may be true, but just as true for many Kerry voters. I did my studying, and so did many people. I think it would be very hard for alot of people to not at least be somewhat informed in this election. I heard it being spoken of everywhere I went.

No, I have never lived in Canada. But I used to live in Michigan and in Ohio. When we lived in Michigan, we were very close to Canada and visited quite a few times. I have a good friend here who is Canadian. She thinks they're very similar. But yes...she does say some weird things once a while. Then again, so do I. I have no problem with your view, but calling my comments outright stupid is not debating, that's bashing. Would you want me to say that about your comments? I doubt it. Judas, I feel like Alan in this thread.

Thank you. I don't plan on leaving but the thought has crossed my mind. I really appreciate some people on this board because I can argue two sides of a political conversation. I see where you're coming from.

All I'm gonna say is that I have lived in both the United States and Canada-and I do notice quite a difference- you don't have to agree with me, that's just my opinion. cass and jimbo, you have not. so don't act like you know what it is like to live in canada compared to the US, because you have no idea.
