One person, one vote?

Post by nelison »

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=s ... _vote_dc_3

just discuss... I think michael Moore's Stupid White men chapter about the 2000 election also describes the dfficulties many Americans have when voting, so if you've read that you've probably read what's in here. I'll try and find more about it but I think it's a rather large problem especially when states are being won by minimal margins.

Note: before all you anti-Moore folk come and post why you hate Moore, this wasn't something conjured from thin air by Moore, not too mention every fact in his book regarding this issue is sourced. This isn't a bash Moore thread either, so try and keep it on topic. thanks

do former felons have the right to vote in some states?

I was wondering the same thing.

I don't have a problem denying felons the right to vote but some of the phony authorities pulling dirty tricks to deter voters is a concern.

I was under the impression former felons could not vote or hold public office unless they had their rights restored by the governor of whatever state they were in, or something like that.

Interesting article.

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

It's crazy how hardcore it is to be able to vote in the states. In Canada you basically just have to show up and be able to prove where you live to be able to vote. If you're homeless, you have to have stayed at a shelter within the last week or something like that.

To register to vote, I just had to fill out a little bit of information and sign a paper. Then they'll mail me a ballot and everything. I didn't even have to show them any ID. That doesn't seem so crazy hardcore to me.

When I moved to Tennessee, I was able to register in this state the same time as I got my driver license. After about 3 weeks I got my voter card in the mail. Pretty easy stuff.

ok whatever, i was just basing my comment on the article that said that many people probably wouldnt be able to vote because it took so long to process registration.

registration to vote in canada is usually done at the same time that people file tax returns. *shrug*
