Thumbs down.

Atreyu = Generic.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Anyone can say that about anything.

But here's the deal, there's 15 other bands popular bands out there that sound exactly like them right now. It's just so common it's pathetic.

There's a reason why certain bands are considered legendary while others are crap. Back in 1979, there were dozens of popular punk bands, but the Sex Pistols, The Buzzcocks, and The Clash all brought something different to the table.

Once Atreyu can have a distinguishable sound, style, or even gimmick, they're no different than every other emo/screamo/punk/pop-punk/hardcore band out there.

Oh I completely agree...old rock/punk has basically inspired other bands music. Its hard to find a band nowadays that has a "different" sound.
And ya. Atreyu does sound like several other bands. But I don't like many other scremo bands other than Alexisonfire and AFI (sometimes scremo)....so I guess my point is that something about Atreyu and Alexisonfire may I add made me like them over other bands. So there has gotta be something unique about them.

Im not sure if that made sense ahha.

It's not hard to be different at all.

Hell, if they wanted to be original, they could keep the lyrics and change the music to something softer. But no, they go for the whole "I'm scary" angle and it's pathetic.

i absolutely adore 'lip gloss and black' by them. but..i downloaded a ton of their songs, and didn't like any of the other ones.
lip gloss and black most likely is the song that would appeal to people like me...those who don't really like screamo. what i like about the song is it has it's heavy elements, which i love (especially the chanting. i'm a sucker for chanting..er..yes..) but then..the chorusy part has melodyishness. not just screaming.

and that would be my badly written comment on atreyu.

also, when i think of their name, i always want to say it at-tree-you. it may not be the right pronunciation, but i think it sounds pretty.

Atreyu has many other songs that have "melodic" parts such as: Ain't Love Grand, Bleeding Hearts. Deanne The Arsonist is also a great song....it has a great tune.

Amazing no one mentions that they covered "You Give Love A Bad Name" for a hidden track on The Curse.

C'mon! It's hilarious!
