Book recommendation

Post by Venom »

Just started a book called "The Shield of Achilles" by Philip Bobbitt (no relation to John.....that I know of). The subtitle is "War, Peace, and the course of History". So far a very good and information filled read. Talks about his theory that the nation-state is dying and is being replaced by what he calls the market-state. He also discusses the paths he feels the world is headed towards including the next epochal war. Great thoughts on history, law, and strategy and how they relate to and influence one another. So far I highly recommed interested parties to read this. It is a finalist for the 2003 Arthur Ross Prize for best foreign policy book of the year and has recieved many other awards.

Hmm, I've ready many a book where it speaks badly of government, so I should give this a shot and even out my horribly disproportionate ratio.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Its a great supporter of my view that war is a part of life and it'll always be that way.

Hey, I might as well give your side a chance, ya know? I might as well be completely educated on the matter.
