I'd recommed an iPod. They're the best you can get. They are a bit expensive though, but you can get up to about 40 GB (if I'm remembering correctly. They start at 5GB and go up). Here's the link to the Apple Store http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/W ... ppleStore/

I have been looking at getting an iPod for a long time, but everyone tells me not too, because they are so bloody expensive.
And I guess I agree. I'd like one if it was cheaper or for free!

I think you should also look atSony Mini Disc players, they do the same thing, pretty much. And the best one at the moment has a cool indiglo remote headphone thingy.

iPods are definately worth the money, but if you get one, go for 15 or 30 gigs atleast. My friend got a 15 gig and the sound quality is just beautiful.

They make Windows compatable iPods, and they come with firewire/usb adapters.

RCA Lyras are pretty nice, but it's hard to find them in sizes bigger than 128 MB. There's a 1.5 and 40 GB model, but I haven't seen one in real life.

I believe the prices on the I-pods are 10 Gb $299, 15 Gb $399, and a 30 Gb is $499... They are expensive but nice... you can use it for more than just an Mp3 player. You can store data on it too.. Sorta like having a pocket drive.

They cost even more over here :(

10Gb = $390 , 15Gb = $470 , 30Gb = $630

I might have got the 10Gb or 15Gb one, but a website I've just looked at says the battery life is only 8 hours before you have to recharge the internal battery. Which is no use if I'm on a 13 hour flight to the west coast of the US or Canada or a 20-something flight to Australia (which I'm hoping to do some time in the next couple of years). I'd rather have one that either has a much longer battery life (if they make any like that) or that takes normal batteries.

Don't get mp3 players at all. Ipod's and sony mp3 players okay, but the rest are crap. Get a sony minidisc baby. I work at Futureshop and mp3 players break down like every month.
Don't ask questions, just accept it.

why would anyone ever need more space than 2500 songs :wtf:.
wuldnt it make more sence to make cheeper models with less songs than to go beyond that? and i agree 8 hour battery life sucks.

Rob, is there any chance whatsoever of a minidisk player skipping if i took it jogging/skateboarding/anything else like that?? I really want to pick up one for running with, but i want to make sure it wont skip first.

I ripped all the OLP CDs for myself, and each song came out to about 4MB. That's only about 32 songs.

You'll definately want to go with something bigger than that.

For the amount of money you spend on a small 128 or 256 Mb MP3 player, you could get one of those MP3 players that play both cds/MP3S. That would hold anywhere from 650 Mb- 700Mb per disc. My MP3 player in my Jeep plays off of cds and the quality is good.
