i guess it depends how you go about looking at it. If you're expecting anything good based on normal standards, then yeah it's terrible. But if you just drop any hope of it being a normal movie and let yourself have fun watching it for what it is, then a lot of it was actually enjoyable.

i think that is exactly what PT Anderson (the director) was going for....i loved that it had that kind of effect on me

This movie is oddly quaint, it's quiet... it's a darling of a film, I think. Holds itself away from P.T. Anderson's other works, but ties together nicely -- I mean, all his movies have been about love: Hard Eight (what love can drive us to do), Magnolia (the fallout of love), Boogie Nights (love and family), and Punch-Drunk Love (Loving a Loser). Sandler himself isn't a great actor, but rather, he's an actor that can be molded into a character (even though his PDL character is like his others -- regularly nice, but can go into insane rage).
Hmmm, it was just weird. I personally loved when he dived onto the street for no reason in the chase scene. Such subtle humor that I'm not even sure if anyone else noticed. But yea... weird movie. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it. And yes, Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore were the peaks of his career, which slowly has been going downhill. I still respect him and thinks he's hilarious, just made some bad movie choices as of late. Little Nicky was awesome though.
