Reno
Ok. I'm slow. But i just noticed that you changed your name and signature to something that, politely, challenges my entire ideological belief structure.
"Anarchy? that's that new crazy sweeping the college campuses and brain washing our youth to belive that we can do without Big brother running around telling you what to do. that our corrupt ass hole politicians are meeting behind closed doors to discuss the future of the world as one country. it tells you that being an anarchist is cool and resisting authority is cool. when you sign up you get a cool little sticker and maybe a t-shirt."
that is in fact not anywhere close to what it is. would you like to discuss what anarchy is? i'm talking theory, not "working models". i am talking about the philosophical basis for anarcho-capitalism.
it's a hell of a lot more then a craze with a t shirt. there's a lot more to it then reisisting authority.

i've asked that many times to people who think ananrchy is a solution to their hate towards their government. (all while they're getting federal financial aid for school
) I never really got a solid answer, simply because they have no idea what they're talking about. actual conversation on college campus:
Dude with clipboard: hey man, were collecting signitures to petition the school to FUND an anarchy club
Me:
this is a state school.
Dude: yeah man if you sign up we'll give you a sticker, letting everyone know that you support an anarchy association.
Me:
dude....this is a STATE school, as in there's no way in hell this is gonna happen. if they fund your cause that's a state funded program...you know the things your NOT suppose to like?
Dude: hey man help us out.
as i kept walking the campus i saw people in their amberchrombie & fintch clothing showing "their support of the anarchy cause". i saw suburban americans walking around with this free gift on their books and shit, it was amusing to say the least. i'm sure a few of them might have been sons/daughters of a few politicians themselves. the fact that capitalism has worked out so well for them to buy nice stuff and drive nice cars, yet they support the anarchy cause amused the hell out of me.
so here is my definition of Anarchy, from what i've seen "the cause" do, it's a "new craze sweeping the college campuses and brain washing our youth to belive that we can do without Big brother running around telling you what to do. that our corrupt ass hole politicians are meeting behind closed doors to discuss the future of the world as one country. it tells you that being an anarchist is cool and resisting authority is cool. when you sign up you get a cool little sticker."
i mean seriously, this guy was preeching trying to get new people to sign his piece of paper at a state school, that without the state being there would probably not exist. he kept talking about big brother looking at us and how corrupt politicians are and what not. he has no idea what the hell he's talking about, you and chris you guys know what your talking about. but this theme of anarchy on the college campuses...it's a joke. it should piss you off that they're watering down your beliefs and your cause, that they're making it some sort of trendy thing to do. all for what a sticker? quite a few bought into it too, with no real idea what anarchy is. these psudo-anarchist define you on many a level, to the untrained eye this is what they're gonna base your beliefs on, and it's a damn shame. but anyway its just a trend, soon enough they'll follow some communist preaching, who knows maybe he'll offer a shirt. then you die hards will come back into the light and we'll take you seriously again. anything the 18-25 year old demographic takes up dies anyway, they don't vote and they don't care about politics. and when they do become aware it's only because their pissed off about something.
they've sold you and your cause out man....and i laughed at the trendy A&F clowns that did so. me...i'll stick to my good olde non-trendy red wing boots, they're reliable, they offer protection, and they'll represent me good. not like some trendy A&F crap that'll go away in three years.

Whenever death may surprise us,

i'm not insulting you Doug but you have to admitt Anarchy is sweepiing across north america as a cool thing for "goth" and "Punk" kids to believe in. Like how many times have you seen anarchy signs all over the place? People are treating it like a fad, which should disgust you more then us people that know what it is. Reno's name is simply stating a sad problem for many young people, they'r emaking a mockery of your passion man, be mad at them not us.

i'm not trying to insult you/Rand or whoever in any way. the only problem i see is that...anarchist, true anarchist, haven't put a dent into the system. you know, we could sit here and talk thories and what not till the end of time, the truth is there's no action. anarchy talk has been around for decades, gone through many a generation, and where's the end result? where's the revolution that changes things, that makes the "norms" in DC or whereever look at the situation and try to meet you 1/2 way? if it's gonna be something of any signifigance, there needs to be action.
it's illegal, sure it is, so was the rebellion from england back in the 1700's. so were the afro-american marches back in the 60's. it's out of controled statement riddled illegal activity that revolutions take place. no one has stood up and fought for your cause, that's the point i'm making, people who are pretending to help you are on college campuses hurting your cause. (though your numbers might be gaining)

The problem with an "anarchy revolution" is that, once the government is abolished and anarchy is truly achieved, people would stand around and say "Now what?" The obvious answer is nothing. You just sort of... go. People would be very uneasy with that and start coming up with small forms of government to create some sort of structure. These would be built on and eventually you are back at square one.

to you and me that's not what it is. to the outside world that has not seen a movement, revolutionary, or even an anarchist state, this is what it is. in almost 50 years of anarchy talk, where's the result? maybe that's why it won't work, because it might look good, it might work, it might be better, but the truth is, no one is doing anything to push this movement toward reality. and it looks like no one will.

in doug's defense, there are people who supposively support the same ideals as me but I'm embarrassed to admit it because most of them don't understand the real issue. They blindly support it much like the kids at your school support anarchy. I don't wish to be associated with them either.

sorta like anything left of a democrat is a communist? In america Socialism seems to be a dirty word, which is sad, because many of Canada's prides were taken from socialist ideas, even many american ones, Calling a Socialist a Communist is like calling a Conservitive a Facist. although may i remid you that there was never been a true large scale Communist country, so even our taboo of communism is wrong, probably the same with Anarchy, but that's the way the cookie crumbles
