GWB on the morning of 9/11/2001

http://www.thememoryhole.org/911/bush-911.htm

The only source to describe what happened next is Fighting Back by Bill Sammon. Publishers Weekly described Sammon's book as an "inside account of the Bush administration's reaction to 9-11 [and] a breathless, highly complimentary portrait of the president [showing] the great merit and unwavering moral vision of his inner circle." [Publisher's Weekly, 10/15/02] Sammon's conservative perspective makes his account of Bush's behavior at the end of the photo-op all the more surprising. Bush is described as smiling and chatting with the children "as if he didn't have a care in the world" and "in the most relaxed manner imaginable." White House aide Gordon Johndroe, then came in as he usually does at the end of press conferences, and said, "Thank you, press. If you could step out the door we came in, please." A reporter then asked, "Mr. President, are you aware of the reports of the plane crash in New York? Is there anything...", But Bush interrupted, and no doubt recalling his order, "DON'T SAY ANYTHING YET," Bush responded, "I'll talk about it later." But still the president did not leave. "He stepped forward and shook hands with [classroom teacher] Daniels, slipping his left hand behind her in another photo-op pose. He was taking his good old time. ... Bush lingered until the press was gone." [Fighting Back: The War on Terrorism - From Inside the Bush White House, by Bill Sammon, 10/02, p. 90]

:wtf: what's the point to this?
Whenever death may surprise us,
let it be welcome
if our battle cry has reached even one receptive ear
and another hand reaches out to take up our arms.

Nobody's gonna miss me, no tears will fall, no ones gonna weap, when i hit that road.
my boots are broken my brain is sore, fer keepin' up with thier little world, i got a heavy load.
gonna leave 'em all just like before, i'm big city bound, your always 17 in your hometown

it's proof that GWB knew he would not be attacked.

umm... I guess...

To me, it is proof that he didn't realize the magnitude of the situation. A plane crash? Why would he worry?

at the time of the video, Bush was being made aware of the second crash. it was now clear that it was an attack.

at the same time this was going on, Cheney was being rushed to a secure undisclosed location. why would the secret service move the VP but not Bush?

he knew he wasn't a target.

what's bush gonna do? you expect him to run off and go to some undisclosed location? you expect him to run off and put a halt to all the chaos a few hundred miles away? what else is he gonna do from florida? he has no idea who's attacking him, what the motive is, or any other detailed events. if he knew, the football would have been used.

I have a hard time believing that he knew it was an attack at that moment. When someone first told me, I was like "Wow, that sucks". Not until I went home and turned on the TV did I realize what a big deal it was.

his attendant wasn't telling him "there's been a crash"

Card told him "america is under attack". The SS knew that there were 'terrorists' in the air - that's why they rushed Cheney to his bunker.

what would i expect Bush to do? haul ass someplace safe. as it's pointed out on the site, any terrorist could have known where the Prez would be that morning, and don't you think he'd be a target?

hmm.

That is the sort of thing that is planned YEARS in advance. They wouldn't just divert course last second.
