wow that does sound to good to be true, but will any of the magor oil countries allow this to happen? and is this technology already patented? cause if not the Exxon will just buy it up and never release it.

If a 175-pound man fell into one end, he would come out the other end as 38 pounds of oil, 7 pounds of gas, and 7 pounds of minerals, as well as 123 pounds of sterilized water.

That's a lovely thought. :P

I wonder how useful that light oil could really be, though. Do we really need more fatty acids? :)

I wonder how expensive a system like that is to set up and implement. But if we can turn garbage into fuel ...... think of it ..... the amount of garbage produced could reduce your heating/cooling bill as well as many other bills. But as mentioned, it does sound too good to be true.

One of the major oil companies will probably try and buy the patent.

here's one slight criticism i found:

The Missouri plant will need to spend $15 a barrel to turn turkey waste into oil, compared with about $13 a barrel for small exploration and production companies and $5 for a major oil company, he said.

Ah yes, I've read about that somewhere, Discover magazine I think. Good idea, let's just hope it becomes a popular alternative, and not another novelty.
