U.S. troops fire on Iraqi protesters

FALLUJAH, Iraq, April 29 — U.S. soldiers opened fire on Iraqis at a nighttime anti-American demonstration here after people shot at them with automatic rifles, soldiers said Tuesday. The director of the local hospital said 13 people were killed and 75 wounded. The demonstrators insisted they were unarmed...

welcome to free iraq, where they shoot you for speaking out!
isn't that the same as saddam's iraq?
alright. let the bullshitting, justifying, rationalizing, blinders-on "we do no wrong" thinking begin.

i'll do one better, i'll wait until an investigation into these actions takes place. either they shot first, or our troops overreacted and shot a bunch of civilians. either way the verdict is still out on this one.

there's not going to be an investigation.
even if there was, what are the chances that you would believe the iraqi story (we were unarmed, they fired on us for no reason) over the american story (they had AK 47s and meant to use them on us).
either way, result is thus: 200+ iraqis gathered to protest american occupation of their country. they were fired upon by the troops stationed near the protest site.

Well, what do you expect from us? Remember, our media is run by Jewish people. Jewish people do hate Muslims. Anything involving Muslims automatically has to be evil, or else it doesn't get on the news. American television is nothing more than anti-Muslim propaghanda, and for the most part, Americans only hear one side of the story. When we finally hear the other side, it's been shoved in our minds that it happened one way, that we just believe what we were told over and over again instead of listening to what may be the truth.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
have you not noticed that these people gather and wave ak-47's and other assult rifles? cause i have and it kind of bugs me. regular people of a country don't have access to that kind of weaponry, much less have them at all, yet everytime the camera is rolling they are waving these guns around. could it be that maybe they shot an inadvertant shot into the air and then the massacare occoured? i'm not justifying the troops actions in no way at all, i'm just saying the situation looks alittle shady.

i don't think those remarks quite fall under the category of anti-semitism.
although it is somewhat stereotypical to say all jewish people hate muslims.
the fact is, american foreign and domestic policy is tremendously influenced by zionism. this is a fact, not the wanton ramblings of a racist. furthermore, many of the jewish aristocrats are heavily pro-israel, which is anti-muslim. this is another fact.

no i don't. but everytime there is "taped celebration" someone is waving a gun around. it's like a mandatory thing or something, i don't know if that is just people celebrating by waving a gun around, or if it's just the media making them look this way but the fact is that they wave these guns around, and when people do that, they look a little scary. can you blame a 18-20 year old for over reacting? no, but he is accountable if that is what he did.

Stupid technicalities. Anyways, ignore the last three posts, get back on topic.

yeah we do, but we don't have soilders walking around with machine guns ready to attack once they hear gunfire. that's their job, and you can't blame them for doing their job, though in this instance it might have been a little extreme. it's pretty scary to be in another country far away where some of the people view you as a threat.

it is exactly like "rules of engagement" although i didn't like it quite so much as corey. it kinda anti-climaxed towards the end.
this is a pretty cut and dried situation and i don't think we'll ever get to the bottom of it. still, like andrew pointed out, do all iraqi's really have ak-47's? would anybody start shooting at well guarded american soldiers who have the high ground? and what about the possibility of infiltrators in the mob?

I can see that. But I think it is a pretty powerful storyline.

that's because your sitting comfortably behind a computer talking about it, your not actually there shitting your pants when you hear a gun go off and spraying bullets left and right. these are guys our age, this time last year or the year before they were at prom. they are liable, they are resposible, and yeah, they might have fucked up, but still, you can't blame them for freaking out.
