Lately, in my school, the measures that my district is taking to keep everyone "safe" are just excessive. We have automatic locks on the doors, where you have to buzz in to get inside, we have cameras all over the school, and lately, we have these "codes" that we have to practice every week. Code Yellow, Red, and Green, Green being the most severe, which in itself makes no sense. In Code Red, we have to turn out the lights, cover the windows with a black cover, and gather in a corner and huddle so that no one can see us.
Most schools probably already have this stuff, but our school only has 300 kids and it doesn't really seem like we really need it. Doesn't this seems kind of excessive to anyone else?

my school's security isn't that strict. we have security cameras and security guards, but that's pretty much it. no drills or "codes" or anything like that. we do have a lot of bomb threats though.

i think my school is more keen on making the students miserable rather than on keeping them safe. we don't have any cameras or guards or things like that, they don't even lock all the doors from the outside during the day. oh well, they're too busy making stupid rules like no food or drink (not even water) anywhere in the school except in the cafeteria. and seeing how there's no air conditioning in my school, it's terrible in the summer.
oh well, all apart of living in downriver i suppose.

Yeah, our school does that too. No food of any kind, not even any water. Our school isn't air conditioned either. Girls aren't allowed to wear tank-tops and someone got yelled at once because she stretched a little bit of her stomach showed. It's getting ridiculous.

yeah, me neither
anyway, our school has to have a certain number of "lockdown" drills every year, in case of a school shooter or something. well, we recently had one, and i went into the auditorium, because it was closest and there were teachers in there. well, i don't think that being in a big ass room (with the doors open still and lights on, mind you) would have helped me from someone attempting to bomb the school.

We recently had a "lock down" drill in our school. it's the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen. the procedures for a lock down drill are simply this:
teacher locks classroom door
students and teacher (literally) huddle in a corner away from the window.
that'll really save us from the crazed gunmen who just won't know how to shoot through the glass on the door and open it from the inside. but if he could figure that out at least we'd all be right there in the corner for him.

maybe i'm looking into this a little to much but is there an election comming up here pretty soon? a few school board members or trustees should be up for election this may, and i find it real shaddy that all of a sudden they put up these securities to make it look like they are doing something worthy of staying on the board.
yeah, i'm a political nut, but you got to think about this kind of crap when you see stupid stuff like this.

All the schools in my district had cameras installed to monitor the halls and entrances in the school. The only drills we get are fire drills, but they have lockdown proceedures printed on short little posters in each classroom. You wouldn't even notice them unless you were actually looking for the things.

Maybe it's cause I live in Canada and all but our school only has
-indoor cameras
-a teacher or the principal usually roaming around the halls
and as for food and stuff, you're technically not supposed to have food out of the caf but you wouldn't get suspended for it, and water and tea and such is freely permitted anywhere. Actually in history class 3rd period my friend and i always eat our lunches, the teacher doesn't care at all, actually sometimes she brings donuts and such for the class. But that may be because she's pregnant and craving... lol
but anyway all this shit is extroardinary, call me naive but i didn't realize it was getting this bad ANYWHERE
