That sounds like a great plan.sandnippy wrote:then instead of killing him and his people.. why not educate them and empower THEM to take him out of power and not kill innocent people?

Actually because Saddam is probably capable putting a stop to it before they are 'educated and empowered.'
Or if someone could succeed in getting it that far . . . *cough*Bay of Pigs*cough*

if theyre fighting for themselves its different then if someone ELSE is bombing where they live and theyre country
you think by the US coming in and killing innocent Iraqis that some of the ppl who lost family are NOT gonna be upset and just accept the death of their loved ones?
just cuz the US managed to take out Saddam.. that doesnt mean that the new govt or the ppl wont still have anti-american sentiments?
im not saying ALL arabs have pro Saddam sentiments or anything like that.. im not saying that this war is solely about Religion and that is why a lot of the Arab League of Nations hope to avoid
it's already been established that there are some people in iraq that don't like saddam. if the u.s. bombs iraq, you're potentially turning those people against the u.s. as well
look at this way.. the people of the Western world hate Bin Laden who in their minds and eyes is a terrorist.. but for the people who have anti-american sentiments.. he's a hero because all he is doing is just trying to rid the world of "the evil western influence"

And I'm saying that I don't know that Iraqi revolutionaries would have the power to fight Saddam, but I do know that the US military does.
We could just let them fight for themselves, but I would want their efforts to be successful.

I'm sure they thought of that quite some time ago.......when the U.S. decided to start supporting the opposition group. We can only do soooooo much for the people when there is dictator that still practices in torture and child abuse on a daily basis...
I had to dig up a lotta dirt on Iraq b/c I just last week had to do a debate in my International Relations class.
Read this.....13 page report on Saddam's issues from the U.S. State Dept.

Military sources are making it sound like this bomb is only used as a "scare tactic", but from what I understand it's capable of doing big things vs. large groups of soldiers and also bunkers.
Of course if you're in the immidiate area of the drop, you're basically gone. But several miles out (this is hear-say, got it from the newspaper) if it doesn't kill you, it will completely take away your hearing.
Doesn't work too well to be on the front line and not be able to hear at all.....
