yoga/stretching/exercising

Post by nelison »

ok I've been looking for a way to relax myself, and keep myself in shape. I play sports but I still get stiff necks, backs, etc. so I've been looking for something to help relieve the tension.
Has anyone tried yoga or stretching exercises or any other claming techniques? I've looked into a few sites about yoga but I find i'm not flexable enough to do some things yet.

Any advice or sites I should visit or just first hand experiences are appreciated. I'm really trying to get this to be a part of my daily routine before I head to university in September so I'll have something to relax with when I'm stressed.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

i took a yoga class over the last vacation and it was really cool. felt really stretched and relaxed afterwards, but my muscles still felt like i got a really good workout. and you start small with the poses and work your way up to more advanced ones, so don't be worried about not being flexible enough cause that's the point.

and this may seem weird since you're a guy but dance is actually a really great way to stay in shape too. whether you take ballet or hip hop theres a lot of moving around, stretching and endurance. and its not just for girls, my hip-hop instructor is a skinny white guy. and i'm 80 percent sure he's not gay. although, that's kinda debatable... heheh.

no dance  As much as I'm a hockey player and dance is suuposed to help with that, i still wouldn't do it, but ya it does make sense though, I just couldn't do it

I went to a site which had basic things on it, which I tried, some weren't described very well so I wasn't sure if i was doing them right or what... anyways I'm gonna keep looking and talking to people, see what I can find.
