Was Einstein wrong?

Joao Magueijo faces a big challenge in contesting Einstein's greatest achievment: The theory of relativity or E=mc^2 which relies on the notion that the speed of light is constant. Magueijo developed VSL or varying speed of light with claims that the speed of light may not be constant afterall and could actually change based on certain conditions. He is receiving much criticism from physicists that call his theory ludicrous. But is it really? I'm still reading an article in Discovery magazine which talks about the theory in more detail.

Doug and Chris, you may find Maguijo's story quite interesting because he too is a self-proclaimed Anarchist.

eh, hate the invention, not the inventor.

Einstein wasn't exactly thrilled with the result.

besides, saying you oppose technological advances is kind of silly, because your opposition means shit. So why bother?

another thread which goes no where thanks to some people...

Anyways I feel Einstein was brilliant and that cannot be denied and I find it hard to believe that anyone can counteract his most notable theory ever documented.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

I don't believe his point is to go against Einstein's theory but merely build off of it. He too is a genius. He mastered Einstein's theory of relativity at age 11. 99.9% of all people won't understand it their entire lifetimes.

The "Ok" should have a comma after it, and "alot" is not a word, it's "a lot."

1. "Spelling and grammar errors"

2. Decide. One dot is a period. Three are ellipsis points. Two mean nothing.

Eh. Breaking the speed of light is old hat.

PS: E = mc^2 isn't the theory of relativity. That equation is a product of the theory, it isn't the theory itself. "The principle of relativity rests on a simple fact: Whenever we discuss speed or velocity (an object's speed and its direction of motion), we must specify precisely who or what is doing the measuring." "The Elegant Universe," Brian Greene

The only exception to this notion is light. Irregardless of benchmark, light travels at 670 million miles/hour. Yes, this means that if you are on a spaceship, travelling at 400 million miles per hour, even though you'd expect light to travel towards you at (670-400=)200 miles per hour, light will still travel toward you at 670 million miles per hour. Odd, isn't it?

So. Guess you're part of the 99.9%, eh?
You can't go around building a better world for people. Only people can build a better world for people. Otherwise it's just a cage.

Um.. yes. Were you trying to sound condescending or does it just come naturally?

woah, there's about four different fights going on in this thread and we haven't even gotten into the second page yet 8O

I hope one day to comprehend the theory of relativity, but physics in general drive me nuts, so I think I'll stick to Plato and Nietzsche for the time being.

Well, let's make it 5. You're a bitch and I wish you would die.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
