but they're paying customers, in fact they bought that shirt inside that very mall. any judge in the country (except in california) will tell that mall, shut down that store if you won't allow people to wear those kinds of products in your facility.

that makes it a little wierder but i still hold that you have the right to do whatever you want on your own property, even kick people out of the place for buying stuff there.

the mall owner is obviously a moron.

Do you think an owner could specifically kick out all blacks?

P.S. I'm just curious, this is not an attempt to start a debate.

Yes, they could. Private property is private property.

But then these people could (and should) easily charge the mall owner with racial discrimination and the mall would quickly be shut down/change hands.

yes i believe it is within your rights to kick all the blacks out of your mall. just as i believe it is thie right of hootie johnson and augusta national to not allow women members.

i mean, if you want to be stupid and turn away that share of the market... that's your call.

From my journal:

me wrote:Image

I don't see why everyone is so mad about the guy who was arrested for wearing a peace T-shirt.

Now, sure, on the surface it seems like "oh my god! freedom of speech is being violated! america is turning fascist before our eyes!" But if you look more closely into it, it's not the truth.

The man was not arrested for wearing the shirt. The man was arrested for not complying with the wishes of the PRIVATE PROPERTY OWNER on whose premises he was. If anything, this incident doesn't show that America are warmongering neo-Nazis, only that the owner of the mall is. And even that assumption is sketchy. There had been a disruptive pro-peace rally at the mall earlier! Now, there's freedom of assembly, but not on private property! And the mall people obviously thought this man was one of the same group as the ralliers. Sure, it was taken too far, sure it was just a shirt, but the point is, he was asked to leave private property or take off his shirt, neither of which he did, so the police got involved. We should praise the police for standing up for our civil liberties - PRIVATE OWNERSHIP! It has NOTHING to do with freedom of speech; if the man had been wearing the shirt at his home or on public property, the police never would have gotten involved. If you want to take this out on anybody, blame the dumbass mall owner, not America for christ's sake!

End rant.

No. He was arrested for not leaving private property when asked by the owner.
