lions of al-rassan was pretty good. not as good as the fionavar tapestry, but okay.
just finished reading:
it was probably the girliest book i've read in a long time, but it was so good. i actually only slept for three hours last night because i couldn't put it down. now i need the second one *bounces around restlessly*

Just finished reading "a thousand splendid sons" by Khaled Hosseini. Might not be some people's cup of tea, but I enjoyed it.
I tried reading Twilight, a friend of mine is a majpr fan. But haven't gotten through it yet, don't know that I like it that much.

I refused to read Twilight until a couple months ago, then I read all 4 books in 2 weeks (which with my schedule is a huge feat!) I really didn't think I would like them so much - really surprised me - not huge into teen vampire fiction!
I just picked up The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson today, haven't started it yet but hopefully sometime this weekend. Has anyone else read it?

i have a real problem with margaret atwood's writing that i can't pinpoint. i've only read the handmaid's tale by her, and i hated every second of it. i think it's because even though her writings are science fiction, as much as she tries to deny it, she has no real training or knowledge of the science fiction genre, so her story doesn't reach all the potential it has. it's basically science fiction for people who don't like science fiction, but as a sci-fi fan myself, the handmaid's tale hurt my brain lol

Currently reading "Stories:all new tales", an anthology with authors Neil Gaiman, Peter Straub, Joyce Carol Oates, Walter Mosley, Diana Wynne Jones, Stewart O'Nan, Jodi Picoult and more. Loving it! Also, been meaning to pick up "1000 awesome things" Neil Pasricha

Just finished F. Scott Fitzgerald's Tender is the Night. Now starting East of Eden.
Tender was good. Really well-drawn characters, I thought, though it didn't hit me like Gatsby did. But a lot of the book seems to be about aging and losing yourself in the process and stuff, so maybe I'll appreciate it more when I'm a little older. So far East of Eden is fantastic, though.
