This poem seems to have sunk it's teeth into me. It makes some frightening points about the way we all live. I thought I'd share it.

Praise Mammon-Mazda

by Donald Hall

Praise Mammon-Mazda that smartly entertains us

day and night, bringing a flat world into our eyes

and livinig rooms without stink

or terror: stainless bloodstains.

Girls, pray at pink altars to the hairless goddess;

bless the petro-divinity of your heroes,

boys, while the whole family

kneels at the shrine erected

by money's priests that commune to consume our hours;

bless CBS, NBC, ABC, and for

a monthly fee bless fifty

channels of wafer-cable.

In return for our faithfulness, we are given

the paradise of eternal distraction. Let

other countries riot and

starve: We'll die watching them die.

Wow.. that really reminds me of the Album "Truthless Heroes" By Project 86.

Truthless Heroes is a concept album that revolves around the 'truthless hero', a character who tries to find happyness through media, material, casual sex, fame, money ect ect. Infact the whole album takes a hard look at North American culture. Here's the lyrics to one of the songs. Tell me what you think.

"Shelter Me"

Shelter me
With mercury vials
Escape is the machine to
Shelter me
With media tablets
We’ll turn today into a
Dream
More doses
More screens
More vials to

Shelter me
With sweet escape
I'm looking for a place to run to
To hide inside

Silence me
Prescribe me your cancer
If I will disappear
You’ll
Silence me
I'll welcome the virus
If you can promise this
Dream
More doses
More screens
More vials To Shelter Me

Don’t bother me with details
Don’t bore me with what’s real
Distraction is all I need
All I need all I need to shelter me
