Timeline

We were in philosophy class, talking about time and quantum theory, among other things. I asked Andrew, "Have you ever read the book Timeline? It's by the guy who wrote Jurassic Park."
"Nope ... wait! Is that the one where they go back in time to the middle ages?"
"In a few words, yes."
"I saw the book, but I didn't get it because the idea sounded kind of lame."
"Well, I read it a long time ago, and it wasn't bad. It wasn't a great book, but it had some really cool stuff about quantum theory and using wormholes in quantum foam to travel to other universes. They go to a universe identical to ours except that they're still in the middle ages. There's all the cool stuff about how there's infinitive universes, and that no two are exactly the same, but how the differences can sometimes be completely neglegable."
Then I rented The Italian Job yesterday. I popped it in (I was watching it upstairs, on VHS) and let the previews play. I wasn't really paying attention to it, and I saw that the first preview was for some movie set in the middle ages. Meh, whatever. I looked back at the TV a few second later, and saw an exploding wall of glass with water pouring out. I thought "That's odd... I know what that's from..." Then it hit me. Middle ages. Some lab with glass walls filled with water. TIMELINE!
People, this movie is going to be amazing. If they keep all the quantum theory stuff in it, I can't see anything that won't be amazing about this movie. The book wasn't great, but it is the perfect type of book to turn into a movie. There is nothing in the book that can't be converted to film (in a lot of books a lot has to be left out because it's not in the main storyline. that's not the case here.).
I personally can't wait.
