Cross your fingers, Ontario high-schoolers...

Teachers are voting tonight (at least in my district) to see if the high-school teachers are going to go on strike. My bio teacher was talking about it today. He said that over 90% of the teachers in my school will likely vote to strike. He also said something about how it will be a province-wide thing.

Its only public schools so it doesnt affect me.... but as good as it would be for you guys it might also kinda screw the older grades over for the future.

our GSI's went on strike last year. We still had to go to class. Well, some professors said that you could skip class if you were in support of the GSI's, but my chem prof. demanded that we attend classes.
In Michigan (the state, not the school), I'm pretty sure that teachers can be fired if they go on strike.

In this shitty city most all the teachers are getting laid off between now and June, next year public schools will have like 40 kids in a classroom

For the strike, obviously!
It kind of screws over the graduating students, but I don't care, as I'm still in grade 11.
Mmm, a week or two off...

yeah
dudes, you guys have school until the freaking last week of June
one week of strike would equate to school until July.

That is funny, they'd be in school on my birthday if they have to go to school in July. Funny stuff.

I don't think we make up for missed time.. there were a number of strikes when I was in elemtary school, and we didn't make up time there, at least.

Our schools are in such bad shape right now. At least the budgets and cuts. Damn Engler. Too bad I know his nephew and he's super cool. But now we have to get rid of block scheduling and I like it. They even talked about getting rid of the bus transporation system, but that's NOT going to happen. Not on my watch.

If the strike goes too long i think they can make you make it up.... we had a janitor strike for like 3 weeks and everybody was talking about that

we had a janitor named "Stumpy"
that wasn't really his name but we liked to call him that
Stumpy and Doag.. not Doug. Doag.

my janitors are lenny, richard, some goofy looking guy with a back brace that gets bossed around by lenny, a short mexican or italian guy (one of the two but he looks mexican), and some lady. yes I am cool for knowing all this. You're just jealous
