The "Did You Know" Thread will be used for random bits of trivia and facts that you probably don't need to know!

Did you know that Canada is the country with the longest coastline?
It's total coastline distance is 151,485 miles (243,791 km)

This makes the Canadian coastline, including all of it's islands more than SIX times as long as the distance around the Earth at the equator, which is 24,902 miles (40,076 km)

Canada has 52,455 offshore islands.

Did you know that the largest television owning country is not the USA or Asia?

It is in fact the country Qatar with 869 TVs per 1000 people.

The USA is in second with 854.

The world average is 270!

Did you know that the country with the highest "reported" car thefts is Switzerland with 982.60 (Rate per 100,000)

And that the USA isn't even one of the top 10 countries with the most car thefts, but Canada is with 521.20

Did you know that China is the country with the most executions per year with a total of 1,067 annually. The second highest country is less than a tenth of China's, with a total of only 100 for the Domocratic Republic of Congo.
