Regardless it introduced Nuclear warfare. Something that can never be won. After that every major country started up a Nuclear arms race, and now what do we have? Enough missles to destroy the world many times over.

and through education of it damming effects the arms race is halted and everyone with a workig brain is removing them...except those who wish to have these weapons for their own self gain. (Iraq and N. Korea)

just because one girl has survived doesnt mean the radiation doesnt exist, nor does it mean that dropping nukes is justified..

every year there is a ceramony on the exact site that the bombs fell in respect of that event. they would not be having this ceramony there if that was the case.

reno, some interesting facts about war.

in war, soldiers are people who sign up so they can fight for their country [ stupid ] and sometimes even dies for it [ brave, stupid ]

atomic bombs, when dropped, have a blast radius which annhilates an entire city.

cities are full of civillians, who did not sign up to fight for anything.

the people in those cities were civillians. the bomb was dropped as a psychological weapon to induce terror in the japanese population. terrorism. it is the worst crime ever committed against humanity.

the bombs that we dropped were definatley terrorist attacks. Everyone says well they bombed pearl harbor! Pearl Harbor was a military base not a city so I dont see the comparison.

hiroshima and nagasaki were not acts of terrorism. see back in these wars innocent people died all the time. lord only knows how many innocent germans french and polish died during this war. (and this is excluding holocost) it is in the mindset of the leaders at this time that innocent civilians casuaties were an acceptable side effect of war. therefore, these bombings were an event of war, becasue it was seen fit for those people to die in a military fashion. japan was warned, they were asked to surrender, and they did not. bomb one released....another demand for the surrender of Japan, and once again...it was turned down...bomb two released. hard headedness kills alot of people. as is hardheadedness of one man is going to kill a bunch of Iraqis.

german blitzkrieg bombing of open cities is terrorism too.

the people in the cities that you bombed cannot be held accountable for the actions of their leaders, and you did. there is no justification for the deliberate killing of non aggressive peoples.

hard heartedness did not kill those people in japan, at least not that of their leaders. arrogance and bloodlust on the part of the americans did, and arrogance and bloodlust is what is killing innocent iraquis.

the dropping of the 2 atomic bombs was one of the greatest crimes one group of humans has ever committed against another. you cannot defend it. it was evil.

when you are warned of an event that is sure to happen, then you should take notice and consider your options. Japans leader did not, thus his people died...simple cause and effect.

no, there is no justification of killing civilians. however, back in those days there was, and now that we are aware of such things, we know better then to do that during war. of course what we do today is nothing like that. since we have weapons that can locate a single target and destroy it with the least possible amount of innocent civilian deaths.

and putting an end to a war is not a crime in any way shape and form.
