That's not really how it works.
Yes it is. At least here in Utah. If you are buried about 24 hours after death, and you died from natural causes, you don't have to be embalmed. It's just that everybody and their dogs live so far from the people that they keep the body for way too long. Just have a memorial service for me, plese. Oh yes, and in my Grandma's town, if you are within 24 hours you can be wrapped in a paper bag and stuck in the ground anywhere. So you could actually be buried where you want, and not pay ridiculious prices for grave plots.
