I work at Shoppers Drug Mart. The pay is more than most people I know get, and the hours aren't that bad either except I work a lot during holidays.

I AM ME wrote:Swimming/First Aid Instructor: I love teaching kids, i do all ages and skills. This is the fun part of my job and i love it. It's not very hard either. Notto mention kids recognize me in public, give me gifts and tell people i'm a cool teacher

i've been a lifeguard for the past two summers (the cc went under though so no more of that) but i HATED giving the kids swim lessons. yeah it was good money but i can't stand kids...especially when they WON'T FUCKING LISTEN AND KEEP PLAYING WITH PLASTIC BOATS AND FLOATY BALLS. i'm not a patient person
right now i'm trying to get a job with kelly services. they're basically an employment service so i submit my resume and they see if they can put me anywhere but i don't really have any idea what that will be because beggars can't be choosers. hopefully it'll pay better than an entry level clerk though cuz if it doesn't i might as well apply to borders. i've had a few jobs in the past and hated all of them: camp counselor, old navy clerk, baskin robbins clerk/assistant manager, and of course lifeguard so at least it looks like i have some work experience on my resume
how exactly does one get into the whole internship thing?

you hate the kids? I love them! They're kick ass! Sure i get the odd bunch of bad kids but i just sit there asses on the side of the pool, within minutes they freezing and wan to get back in and pay attention. Sounds like you had to many toys floating around, i don't leave anything to distract them except when we're using them for stuff.

Just call around and ask different companies if they have an intern program. If there is a main or district office you can call, I recommend calling them. Some companies have job info on their websites too. If you're a college student, you may want to talk to someone there to see if they have any contacts. Hope that helps

I've worked in the administration for Fuji Photo Film for the past two summers, three weeks each summer. It was basically doing simple things that the usual employees didn't have time for. It was a pretty sweet job, especially for someone my age. I got it through my dad, who works in the same building.
This summer I can't work there, so I'm going to try and get a job at de Efteling this year. Just like basically everyone I know

I work as an office assistant for a real estate appraiser. It's not terribly glamorous or anything but it pays for my car payments. It's nice because they work around my school schedule but I plan to get a different job when summer semester rolls around.
