lol yeah... it's all about perspective.

right now i don't feel denied of anything. at least not in a nutritional or dietary sense.

i don't know about giving up dairy though, i could do without the milk, soy milk is some good shiznit... but the eggs... that would be the hard part... and the cheese on pizza.

I fail to see why any one would wanna work in a slaughter house.

By The Way. I get my meat and eggs straight from my friends farm. So I definatly know that the animals arent mistreated...that is till they are killed.

Yeah man, a friend of mine who's close enough for me to call a brother lives on a dairy farm, and they don't mistreat their animals at all.. hell I'm jealous of those cows

around here, it's almost unheard of for farmers to mistreat their animals.

yeah, that's hick town for you.

Any animal that is being raised to become someone's dinner, is gonna get mistreated in some way .. most farmers don't do the slaughtering themselves, they send them to a slaughterhouse .. where the abuse happens .. so the farmers might be good to their animals, but once their shipped off to the slaughterhouse it's a whole other story.

but if they were killed by the farmer would it really be different it is unfortunate that animals go through all that but I dont think meat could produced on such a scale if independent farmers only killed the animals and packaged them. I mean since beginning of time man has eaten other animals so eliminating it all together wouldnt be feasible.

What do you consider when lions eat deer...animals eat animals and hopefully one day the meat industry will be strictly regulated but I mean read the Jungle by Upton Sinclair and you can tell some improvements have been made but it isnt ideal. I dont know I am allergic to basically everything else besides meat so it sucks for me, vegetarian isnt an option.I think some attempts should be made to clean the industry up and try and make it as humane as possible.

Um .. I didn't mean the farmer should kill the animals instead

i just thought you were saying that would be better for the animals then going to slaughterhouses.

Um no .. not at all .. they were just saying how their friends that farm don't mistreat the animals .. well yeah, most farmers don't .. it's when the animals are shipped off to the slaughterhouse.

Oh and your point about animals eating animals .. animals do that to survive .. a lion eating a deer is something so completely different it's not even relevant here. A lion is killing that deer because that's all it knows, it's called survival .. humans don't need to eat meat to survive. Plus I'd hope that a person has more intelligence then a lion. Nobody, will die if they don't eat meat. More humans die because they eat too much meat .. that's already been proven.

Actually......my friend slaughters the animals himself......which must be a nasty job.

Actually I dont eat that much meat now that I think about it. :uh:

I started telling my mom what they do to chickens and she got mad at me ..she's like "I don't wanna know, chicken is like the only meat I eat!" Heh .. she has a point though .. if you don't know, it's easier to ignore it. Now that I know, I'm ruined.

ive been veggie for about a year. and i HAVE to label myself that, though i hate it, or else i will be yelled at for not eating my beef :(

though, im not really a 'true' vegetarian because i eat seafood and the ocasional fish.

the reasons i became veggie:

a) i dont really like meat and this was the only way i could get around to REALLY eating my veggies.

b) by cutting out meat, i have also (it seems) cut way back on grease and usless fat. now, even if i do eat something greasy, i get sick because my body isnt used to eating grease. not having so much grease has actually made me feel a lot better.

c) i realise im not the healthiest person in the world and i eat way to much cereals, but i eat more veggies now because when the majority of your meals are something with meat and veggies on the side and you dont eat meat....that leaves....and PEOPLE! you can get more than enough protein from other food than meat. meat has FULL proteins, but other foods have partial proteins that all add up to make full ones, which is enough. didnt you people pay attention in your grade 9 science class?

d) it has become a very corporate kind of thing, and as kimmy said, i dont need yet another mass-produced addition to my life.

e) my biggest one: its way better for the environment. if you have a feild with a couple cows on it and they eat all the vegitation in it, thats going to feed WAY less people than growing a crop on it would.
