Personally though, even if you dislike it for yourself, don't criticize other peoples choices. Reality of the fact is I dont think anyone with a piercing gives a damn what you think, just the same as you wouldn't care about their thoughts on you either. All it is, is cosmetics. And although you want to go into an office/desk job, Many people don't, and I have many friends with lots of piercings who have jobs at the mall, food stores etc. The fact of the matter in the end, is whether or not you're doing a good job, not what you look like.

The only piercings I have besides my ears arent visible to the human eye!

I'd rather like my tongue, I'm wavering at the moment.

I merely stated my opinion on piercings. I don't see whats so wrong about that. Those kids who work at the mall/mcdonalds will eventually have to move on into the real world and get a real job. Even to move up in the retail setting I'm willing to bet Matt could tell you how piercings are probably frowned upon, and that people who have the power to decide who gets promotions probably pay attention to appearance. This is not a perfect world, Sinead. It's a truth of our day and age that appearance is important, and tattoos and piercings are frowned upon.
Don't tell me they aren't frowned upon either, because no matter the store I go into around here if someone has an eyebrow ring they must cover it with either flesh toned or dark tape so that way it cannot be seen. I don't have ambition to work strictly in a desk job either. I merely used that as an example, because appearance means something in nearly every profession, and if you want to further yourself in that profession there has to be a point where you realize that you've screwed yourself because of choices made when you were younger. But whatever, do what you want. I've said before that I'm all for personal expression, but personally I see this form of it as somewhat stupid. Sorry for voicing my opinion. You didn't have to read it.

yeah..at my work we're not suppose to have more than one piercing per ear.
that's it.
no facial piercings..
but we're kinda low on staff, and people keep quitting..so they don't really enforce it anymore.
so uh, yeah.

So I guess I just happen to only shop in stores with those policies. Odd... Whatever, it'll be great in 15 or 20 years to walk down the road and look at all the people who are now 40 with horrendous scars and holes.
For the record I never said piercings were bad. I said certain piercings are stupid. Rather than reading between the lines maybe some of you should read my whole posts.

Why are we getting so riled up over this?
What's in or on another person's face can't hurt you (excluding of course a particularly vicious headbutt), and no one's opinion can keep you from altering your body however you want.

*puts Jim in the "antii-piercings/tattoos" column*
If I remember right, our dress code policy states that any facial piercings must be covered, and it may state that tongue piercings aren't allowed. They may have changed the tongue piercing one a while back. I do believe that appearance is important, and most employers would probably frown on a lot of facial piercings and tattoos. That may also be region specific to me. I have more words in my brain but I can't get them all to my fingertips because I'm so tired. Next subject please.
