Here's my OLP Detroit experiences.

St. Andrews 2001 - Rough crowd. Crowd surfing was out of hand. People were pushing like mad. I caught a drum stick but was thrown to the ground kicked, and had the stick taken away from me.

89X Birthday Bash - People were forming mosh pits towards the front and throwing elbows, so it got rough after a while.

Detroit In Store - Easy crowd, considering it was an acoustic set in a small building and there was no room to mosh or anything. When trying to leave, people pushed me around, but that's nothing.

State Theater - Roughest crowd ever. I haven't been to a show with more people pushing and crowd surfing in my life. And I have been to punk shows, and in a mosh pit at a Deftones show. Like I said, if I didn't grab the railing and push back, Steph would have been crushed.

But my other shows have been a lot more pleasant

Columbus 2002 - Yeah, it was hot in the building, but that's nothing. The crowd got a little rowdy during Starseed, but if they didn't then the crowd would have sucked. Had some beer poured on me, but that's really nothing.

Rochester, NY 2002 - Very easy crowd. I was on the railing (which was carpeted, so it was soft) and rarely felt anyone push up on me. I was a sweaty mess after the show, but again, that happens.

Detroit crowds suck.

Wasn't the Clifton Park, or whatever, show the one where it was just unbearably hot? I may be wrong.

It was the show where is was unbearable. it was oversold by a few hundred people. There was no airconditioning, no air and it was so humid it there. there were people being pulle dout almost unconscious. It was a miricle Raine survived that show. He was suffering through. At least Steve and Duncan removed their tops, but Poor Raine. he had to dunk his head in water whenever he left the stage. it was that bad. For the band as well as the fans.

Well, shows do get bad like that. I am not saying anywhere near that show, because that must have been ridiculous, but no small concert hall that OLP would play is air conditioned. I mean, you have at least 1500 screaming fans pushing forward to see the band, and unless you have people pouring water in your mouth at the front, you're gonna be wrecked. I can't imagine what that show must have been like.

Just make a fucking huge sign with the chorus on it, hold it up, and people will sing. Raine thanked me for doing that.

Okay, big CM meetup at the AC show...bring magic markers and posterboard. And we're gonna do the lyrics to The Birdman and Neon Crossing...I hope they do Neon Crossing again.

You can't do the lyrics to the entire song, because that would take quite a bit of posterboard, or you'd have to write incredibly small. Just do the IAH? chorus. Talk to Raine after the show and tell him about it, he'll be flattered.

hmm..maybe i should make signs for raine. i've noticed that sometimes he messes up, himself...

Yeah, he does. During Not Enough..he stumbles over the words, at least he did when I saw him.
