It clearly wasn't racist. I don't like Rush, but still, he did nothing wrong. He worked his ass off to get where he is, but when he says something like the media over-hyped someone's talent because they're looking for a minority star for that position, people are trying to trivialize his entire life as being a racist. That's bullshit.

I am sick of everyone overreacting on everything. How could that possibly be such of a huge problem that people call for him to go into seclusion for the rest of his life? He did nothing more but talk about the media, and he's considered a racist.

i dont think ANY of this would have occured if he just said mcnabb was over-rated and left it at that.. but to say his reputation is aided by the media cause of his colour is wrong. not racist but wrong.

Wow, did you even hear the comment? Rush said that the media overhypes Donovan McNabb because they want a black superstar quarterback that they can market off, and McNabb filled that role. Yes, he has good numbers, but he is, by no means, a superstar level quarterback. No matter what he does, he's always considered a top candidate for MVP, and considering his numbers aren't spectacular, why do you think that is?

And by the way, when did Rush say the only reason McNabb has done so well with his career and got so far was the reason he was black? I must have missed that, because last time I checked, nothing along those lines were said. All Rush tried to do was say the media over-hyped an under-deserving athlete, and everyone is all up in arms about it.

Perhaps his comment was uncalled for but it makes you think. The same thing several individuals are claiming Michael Moore's comments do in that other thread. Calling for Rush's head is a bit extreme and that is what the media is doing now.

I really am not a fan of Limbaugh's, but this is ridiculous. How convenient this story breaks at this moment. I hate the media more and more with each passing day.

but what does the media do that isnt extreme?
but anytime you make that kinda comment tho, you are going to offend a great deal of ppl whether you intend to or not.

alan my only point is that rush's comments were uncalled for, mcnabb may not have had the same numbers of others but as i said before in one of my posts, the QBs are usually the face of the team.. deservedly so or not.. IMHO this is one case where his defence and duce staley's running attack last year were huge and pivotal to the record they had. one thing that isnt taking into account however is mcnabb's ability to run.. hell if you look at vick's numbers.. his passing game isnt the greatest.. yet for the most part vick is considered to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.. hell (this isnt the best of examples but fuck it) he even went 1st overall in our pool.. why? he puts up big combined numbers.. mcnabb used to be that way as well.. he was a threat to run and a threat to throw .. he isnt the greatest QB in the league BUT at the same time he isnt the worst.. i admit he's overated.. ive admitted to the fact that he isnt as great as his reputation is.. BUT where i have a problem with all of this is the fact that race is even brought up at all.. its not necessary.. you can just as easily make the point without mentioning names or colours or crap like that.

I'd also like to point out that when Isiah Thomas said that Larry Bird was overrated because he was white, no one called him a racist. Why?? If Rush is a racist than Isiah is too. Like I said WHITE people are so afraid to talk about race for fear of being called a racist, and a lot of the people going after Rush are "reverse racists".
