Exactly. Ultimately it's what the family thinks would provide the best surroundings for the child, and if they feel this is the answer than all the power to them.

If they were forced to go to this school I would be siding with all of you that its a bad idea but since that's not the case I think it's a good idea.

I don't think this is a good idea. I mean, it's like segregation all over again. I can see a school for physically or mentally challenged students as they would have different needs. However (as I think someone already said) being gay isn't a disease...it's not something that should make people be treated one way or the other.

I didn't read the article (although I did hear about this before I heard it on here), so correct me if I'm wrong, but gay students wouldn't be forced into this school, right? So if they get the choice of what school to go to then the question must be raised that straight students should get the choice as well. Then, if you had gay students going to the "normal" school and straight kids going to the "gay" school then you kind of just defeated the whole purpose now didn't you? :wtf:

Yeah, its their choice... but that doesn't mean its a good idea.

why not? If the families have no problem with it than why should we have a problem with it when in reality it doesn't concern us at all.

all i know, is that if i were gay, I definately wouldn't want to go to this school, it would be like having the word 'homosexual' written on my forhead, and while I would be free from gay bashers at school there's still life outside school to worry about. I'd much rather go to a normal school and not wear a label at all.

hmmm hasn't anyone considered that kids arn't stupid, when they find out your going to this school they're going to know for sure your kid is gay and torment him even more, not to mention there would be groups of kids probably waiting for kids from that school to get out, not to mention it would make it so that people were seperated and never allowed to accept each other, very good intentions but a bad idea, it only has a few qualities to it, which are outweighed by the disadvantages

Way to make heterosexuals sound like fucking animals. They wouldn't camp outside the school just to make fun of a gay guy or two. If they were walking by the school and saw the kids walking out, one might say "fag" or something of the sort if he was gutless, but give me a break. No one is that extreme unless you're in a redneck place like Oklahoma or Idaho.

Because it's relevant, and does show definate signs of discrimination:
Bush backs law to bar gay marriage.

I read about that today. I'm on the fence. I believe that marriage is defined as the joining of a man and a woman. I mean, if gay marriage should be legal, then why not polygamy?

a marriage should be a symbol of love. If that love is between a man and another man or female and another female then so be it. As long as they're happy it shouldn't really matter to anyone else.

Well, you do have a right to your opinion. I just don't see how it really matters what gender people are. If they are the same gender and love each other and want to get married, I see no problem with that.

I don't see what the problem with living with multiple women is.

Well neither do I, but isn't the point of marriage to have kids?

The point of marriage is to show two people's love for each other and to prove their commitment.
