I read dreamcatcher when it came out. VERY good book. The movie is probably as good as it could have been but the book is far superior. The ending in the movie is a bit different from the book. I saw the movie in February when it was in theaters and bought the DVD last week. One of my favorites. Also the series someone refered to is called the "Dark Tower" series. Wizard and Glass was the 4th installment. The fifth which is entitled Wolves of (something can't remember full title) is to be released very soon. Saw the sign at Borders last night. I for one am very excited about it.

I'm in the middle of the Dark Tower series right now. I'm about to start book three. I have to read some other crap for english class first, though.

I just saw that movie last weekend. It wasn't bad, could've possibly been better. My friend rented it after reading the book, she's a big Stephen King fan.

It's hard for me to interpret the quality of the movie on it's own. I love the book, so I love the movie - except for some of the things that were changed.

I lived the book, it was a fantastic story, and it was darn well-written.

After reading the book, I thoughtt he movie sucked arse. They changed too much, which I admit, they kinda had to to make it fit, but it still came off as too cheesy. I guess some things work best in print, and some in film; not everything will translate.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

Yeah, the movie sucked compared to the book. But all things considered, it was a pretty good interpretation.

This movie should not have been made. I mean, it's alright... But there are so many Stephen King books that shouldn't have been made into movies. So many of his ideas are mind based, while movies are almost all physically based (although they did a good job on the memory warehouse). Like in Dreamcatcher, the whole hospital thing.

Plus, there's just so much emotion that can't be explained through any means other than the written language.

Yeah, I have IT. So crappy. The acting is horrid.

And again, anything not completely physical was removed. Like Bill's whole journey (fall?) through the universe to meet the Turtle (who vomited, creating the universe).

That's it, I'm making a Stephen King thread. I thought of something I wanted to say...
