A hard drive allows for faster load times becuase much of the game is installed onto the hard drive. Plus you can throw on music to listen to if you don't like a games soundtrack. Also, it allows for extra content to be released for particular games. For example, you could download new Halo 2 maps through Live. Of course, these maps would be far to big to fit on a memory card.Axtech wrote:So they have a hard drive, woo... I've never filled a card. lol When I stop playing a game, I trade it in and erase it from my card.
The only other real advantage to the old XBox over PS was it's Live format. But I don't even use my console online.Plus, I imagine the PS3 will improve on it's online performance.
you coulda stopped after word 2, but thanksthirdhour wrote:Xbox 360, the newest geek toy, was released last night. It is in the nature of geeks to prove to one another that they are the geekiest of them all. The ultimate status symbol of geekhood is having the newest, most expensive, geekiest toys FIRST. Therefore, rather than actually battling for geek titles, (they are simply geeks after all) they just waited around doing nothing for hours in order to prove their geekiness.
This doing nothing activity will now continue for months and months to come for those who managed to get an Xbox. Except now they'll have flashing pictures in front of them and a controller in their hand.
Kapish?
I've been hearing good things about the PS3. It's supposed to have the best videocard in existence and have the entire system or something set to run it only.Axtech wrote:So they have a hard drive, woo... But xbox live is a paid subscription isn't it? The Japanese Nintendo 64 basically had those capabilities as well with the 64DD.Joe Cooler wrote:A hard drive allows for faster load times becuase much of the game is installed onto the hard drive. didn't read my post in the other 360/PS3 related conversation thread eh?Rusty wrote: It's supposed to have the best videocard in existence and have the entire system or something set to run it only.
I think it's obvious I didn't.Lando wrote:didn't read my post in the other 360/PS3 related conversation thread eh?Rusty wrote: It's supposed to have the best videocard in existence and have the entire system or something set to run it only.
You'll really see the PS3 pull ahead when the developers take advantage of Blu-ray's 25 to a possible 100 gb of space per disc.Goin' Down Fighting wrote:blah blah.....Gaystation 3 is gonna have great graphics, I don't care.I guess I'm really not all that big on the graphics, really. I mean, I'm sure its gonna look kick ass, and the specs prove that its gonna be stronger than "360", but it really doesn't sway me. Their exclusive lineup of games is getting weaker, and not stronger. Thats enough for me. haha!
And by exclusive lineup...I'm talkin the good ones. I know I'll get shot for this, but the Resident Evil game sucks. Like J. Edgar "sucks".....
I need me a 360.....I think I'd just about eat a pile of turd if I could track one down right about now.
The Xbox 360 comes with a Xbox Live Silver. Silver is offered to everyone, Gold requires a subscription. Silver allows you to download extra content, talk to people over live and post high scores. What it does not do is let you play online. Secondly, the 64DD was far more limited than an Xbox with Xbox live.faninor wrote:But xbox live is a paid subscription isn't it?
