 Fake meat's almost always really easy. It's usually just: throw it in the microwave for a few seconds or minutes, and you're good to go.

I only have Boca here, no morningstar and the one meal I tried from Amy's was disgusting. Look for Tofutti .. they make kick ass ice cream, cream cheese, sour cream, yogurt .. lots of yummy things like ice cream sandwiches. We have soy cheese here but no vegan cheese .. all their veggie cheeses contain casein, which is a milk protien so still not vegan dammit .. Tofutti is popular in the US so I'm suprised you haven't seen it Nikki ..

Hmm... I guess the supermarkets here just don't carry that cos they suck.

But, yeah, most of Amy's stuff is awful... which is why I was hesitant to try the soup at first, but gave it a shot anyway. Man am I glad I did.

Boca won't ship frozen foods .. plus it'd come from the US so it would melt

I like Yves .. I like their veggie burgers, turkey slices and bologna slices .. their chicken burgers weren't bad too .. chicken nuggets didn't have much taste and their meatballs were gross. All their stuff is vegan ... I didn't like their ground beef either.

Yeah, their lunch"meat" is good. I've never had their veggie or chicken burgers... I just stick to Morningstar for those.

I'm trying to remember if it's Yves that makes the fake steak that I like. Normal people would think it's nasty cos of the texture, but I like weird things, so I'm a freak and love it.

I know lightlife makes chicken strips and steak strips .. I tried the chicken but I think I cooked it too long because it was kinda hard .. didn't try the steak. I was never a fan of steak even when I used to eat meat, so I didn't think I'd like the fake steak either. I've heard such good things about Morningstar but that's one brand I can't find anywhere in Canada :( Boca's chicken burgers/nuggets have egg and milk in them so I haven't tried them ... I really only eat the roasted onion boca burgers ... those are tasty

Aha, Lightlife, yeah, that's the fake steak... I think. :Johnathan: Well, regardless, yeah. I was actually never a fan of steak either before, but the fake kind's good... probably cos it's got so much mushroom gravy on it that that's all it tastes like, and I love mushrooms. And the seasoning on the "steak" strips is good, so I like those, too. But, yeah, the chicken and steak strips are hard... that's just how they are, I think, cos I've cooked them different ways and they're always like that.

It really REALLY sucks you guys don't have Morningstar up there. They've got the best... well, pretty much everything. They're actually a subdivision of Kellogg, which I didn't realize til I went to their website. Hmm... they've actually got a few different names to their brand... check out the site, maybe you can find some of them in stores... I'm sure it's the same food, just different logos and such. Here's Morningstar's site:

http://www.kelloggs.com/brand/msfarms/home.html

Actually, it's got a "stores near you" search.... maybe there's a store lurking near you that you've just never been to. :)

the store locator unless im extremely stupid only takes zip codes and NOT postal codes so it only works for americans

Well, dang. See, I didn't actually pay attention to it, I just saw that there was a "stores near you" thing.

I've checked out every grocery store in my wee city and no morningstar products to be found .. there might be some available in the giant whole foods market in toronto but i won't be going there anytime soon

You know what is really good. It's this pot pie thing, with chili inside and corn bread outside. I think they're from Morningstar, and they're vegan. and they're really good.

Their "chicken" pot pie is even better.

Umm, yeah.

Oh, and Joey, that sucks. :(

Nikki if you haven't been able to order that guide to fast food book yet .. check this site out: http://www.vegetarian-restaurants.net/O ... odRest.htm

It lists a bunch of fast food places/restaurant and then talks about what's vegetarian/vegan there .. I'm not sure how accurate it is but it's still kinda neat :)

Oooh! Thank you! *bookmarks*

On a semi-related note... I'm so pissed off at myself. I just found out that the only restaurant (probably) in the world that has vegetarian (actually, vegan) cheese"steaks"... which I've been meaning to go to for years but never knew where it was and thought it was someplace hard to get to... is actually in a location that I've walked right past every single time I've gone to South Street in Philadelphia (where I go all the time). :wall: Oh well, at least now I can go the next time I go to South Street! *excited*
