Gah. Those landings looked painful even WITH the skis on.
Lando wrote:Also Nikki, since you asked a few pages ago, I mentioned that Sweden made history. Well the Swedish women made it to the Gold medal round against Canada in hockey.
In all 7 world cups and both Olympics, Canada and The U.S.A were the only two teams to play in the Gold Medal round.
Ohhh, I see. Well, that's awesome for them!

Women's fencing - sabre. The 2004 summer Olympics were the first to have women's sabre competition. This girl was favored to win gold but got upset really close in the semis and ended up winning bronze. But the bronze medal was the first one awarded, so technically she's the first ever woman to win an Olympic sabre medal. Pretty cool!

Indeed they are. Did you see one of the U.S. Men in a warm-up run the other day? Both of his skis came off in the air at the same time! That landing would have hurt like hell. The chances of both of them not being on his boots securely has to be extremely low. It seems impossible really. They were probably tampered with!
I heard it was a Canadian - Jeff Bean - that this happened to?

thank goodness the Cdn men's hockey team finally won a game. Although it started to look a little sketchy in the end.
The speedskating duel between Americans Chad Hedrick and Shani Davis is interesting. They apparently don't like each other much, and frequently come 1 & 2 in races, breaking records along the way. They were expected to get 1 & 2 today but got beat by an Italian so they got 2 & 3.
<I><B>"I know this sounds corny, and I might be a little bit drunk, but honest to god, thank you everybody"</B></I>
i noticed that...
reporter: was this race more satisfying for you because you beat hedrick?
davis: not really, since i've beat him before, several times.
me: burrrrrn!
awkward is the new cool
gutterhome.blogspot.com
after davis won the 1000 m the reporter asked hedrick if he had anything to say to davis and he said "no.. but i will go congratulate joey over there.. he did great..." then walked away
davis has returned the favour more than started anything terribly wrong given he stated he didnt want to skate in the team pursuit because he wanted to do what was best for his individual events which are important to him which is justified
he doesnt owe anything to hedrick nor should he
Headlines today "Austrians admit to 'illegal methods' " That whole story is like a movie.
"Canada's Chandra Crawford stunned the women's cross-country field as she captured the gold medal in the 1.1-kilometre sprint at the Torino Winter Games Wednesday."
Craziness... Beckie Scott was expected to medal but came 4th, and Crawford came through with gold!
Canada has a lot going on today: curling semis, speedskaing relay, speedskating 1500, hockey qtr final against Russia, aerial final, etc.
Cindy Klassen, already the first Canadian woman to get 3 medals in a single Olympics, could become the first Canadian to win four medals today. Today's 1500 is her strongest race, so *fingers crossed*
