In spanish class this morning i felt this thing on the side of my face near my ear. It was a liquid... i go and wipe it and i'm bleeding like a mofo from the ear. I got dissmissed and went to two doctors and all thats wrong with me is an ear infection. Well thats one hell of an ear infection!

so there are two glutamate receptors- NMDA and AMPA
NMDA- hebbian and ionotropic
it has magnesium attached to the receptor, and even when glutamate binds to it, it does not open the ion channel. AMPA has to depolarize it to open the channel. so sodium comes into the channel and depolarizes the cell, which pops off magnesium. AMPA does NOT let in calcium, but NMDA does. the calcium is important because it activates the CaMKII which phosphorylates AMPA receptors and allows more sodium to go in, which lowers the resting potential, and CaMKII also increases the number of AMPA receptors ...this whole thing increases the sensitivity of postsynaptic neuron to future stimulation

Geniculostriate lesions:
Cut in right optic nerve- blindness in right eye
Cut in optic chiasm - bitemporal hemianopsia
Cut in right optic tract - left homonymous hemianopsia
Cut in right optic radiation- upper quadrant hemianopsia
cut in striate cortex - homonymous hemianopsa with macular sparing.
